Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I moved into a house , all good

A housemate moved out two weeks later and took the lightbulb from the bathroom with him

Now maybe he did purchase it at some stage but how petty can you be??? They are dirt cheap, I bought two bulbs for €3.50 in the supermarket

Windows occasionally leaves tooltips hanging on the screen despite not having my cursor over their respective button.

Restarting does the trick, thankfully, like with many other problems.

Cut small sprouts in half, fry them until they start to brown... throw in pancetta cubes and red onion, fry for another few mins...transfer to dish and oven bake for 15 mins...serve with a little grated parmesan if you wish... absolutely fab.

Agree, the Brussels sprout is the under appreciated hero of the vegetable world.
Instead of boiling them into a grey-green sludge gently simmer until al dente then season with black pepper and butter.
Alternatively try some of the methods below

Sweat onions with ground mace and nutmeg in butter,
Add some breadcrumbs and cook until starting to colour
Add your sprouts and toss together

    Fry halved sprouts in butter
Add a dessert spoon of whole grain mustard, a dash of white wine and cream
    Simmer for a few minutes

Keep it simple by roasting in virgin olive oil with a grind of sea salt and black pepper
The outer leaves crisp up, the inside stays soft and delicious.

TA having a nervous time of things need to cancel a hospital appointment on Friday that I just don't feel ready for, I am gonna get told off by just about every avenue in my life for making such a decision but I just can't do the operation at this time as I'm scared shirtless, I am really freaking out on how to do things about it and just don't feel ready to have it done as the uncertainty on post op care is driving me up the wall, I need the op to be done but am just not ready is my feeling right now but it's more than that so much more than that, I need a fun TA not some stupid real life bullshirt like this. :(

Learned my lesson big time tonight about not going to the doctor when you need to. Was having a great night out with my sister and friends until I got the worst pain ever in my side. Ended up in A&E with a very bad kidney infection. I've had the symptoms for a few days but didn't do anything about it.

Also TA by the fact that my earlier TA was complaining about people talking about blood and I had to get my bloods taken in the hospital. I cried like an absolute baby and then got sick.

I'll be the doctors best customer from now on so I never experience anything like it again! :(

You know what's best for you. Would it be any help to call the consultant/the team and chat through the aftercare? I work in a hospital and I know if a patient was feeling uneasy like you are, the consultant I work for would be happy to chat through things.
If you decide not to go ahead, let the hospital know asap and they might be able to offer your appointment slot to someone else and they'll know you're not dicking around.

Ring the hospital and ask if they have a CNS , clinical nurse specialist , you can speak to . Lets say its an orthopaedic op then ask if there is an orthopaedic CNS available to speak to . They are experts in the proceedure and after care and can guide you and put you at ease

Estate agents who use wide angle lenses when taking photos of property.

I am wondering why the washing up liquid I am using is referred to as "the leading brand" etc. when all it produces is a measly amount of flat bubbles when faced with greasy baking trays and roasting dishes. FFS, it doesn't feel like I am cleaning these bits at all :(

My car has a big scratch on the front of it that I didn't notice. We went on the CCTV camera and turns out my neighbour hit it. There's not much damage and I'm not going to do anything about it but surely she could have had the manners to come over and let me know!

Dogs often freak me out. One time in my local Spar, a hyperactive dog got into the shop and managed to get up on my leg!

No damage was done, fortunately. Just felt uncomfortable, like I am now with my cold.

Getting really frustrated at the timing of life. Can’t help but be envious of milestones other people I know are reaching when I’m still years off it.
A good friend just announced her pregnancy, she’s with her partner about 7 months and they’re delighted.
I’d love the same but we’re saving for a mortgage so it’ll be years yet.
I know I sound like a jealous bitch but I can’t help it.

Another, more trivial TA, was having a glorious afternoon nap and a man passing my bedroom window on the street outside sneezed so loudly I woke up screaming with fright. The joys of living on a main road!!

Need new runners for the gym. Went into sports shop A they only had Fashion runners for women. Tried sports shop B the women's section is now relegated to a tiny corner of the shop with very limited selection.
Seriously I thought sports shops used to sell clothes and shoes you can actually work out in.

Just been to the cinema. Had to ask 2 women to keep quiet as they were whispering the whole way through the first half hour. The movie was "A quiet place" which obviously made it all the more noticeable but it was really annoying. Film ends and I go to the bathroom. They're outside waiting for me to attack me. Jaysis, 7 months??? I know how I'd be feeling if that was a friend of mine and it wouldn't be jealous. Chin up SB.

My TA: Velcro dog. I love her to bits and I understand that as a rescue who came from an abusive background she's super-bonded to me and that's very important to her, but my god she's driving me mad this weekend. I don't think her face has been less than two inches from mine the entire time.

    This makes me so angry!
I haven't gone to the cinema in over a year (I think) because I'm just so sick of people ruining the experience. Literally every time you go there's muppets talking, messing, playing with their phones.
For 2 people the cinema costs around €30-€40, depending on what night you go and what food you get.
Now, I don't know about anybody else but I definitely don't have €30-€40 to throw around willy nilly so when I go to the cinema, I want to get my money's worth! But there seems to be a huge amount of people who want to pay €30-€40 to sit in a dark room, watch about 45 minutes of a film and spend the rest of their time messing on their phone and chatting to their muppet friends.
Why do you need to use Facebook/Instagram/snapchat during the film? Why are you taking a phone call during the film?
There's nothing worse than having the light of someone's phone constantly catching your eye (because you're in a dark room!) while you're trying to watch a film.
And, to be honest, I hate having to get up and tell someone to stop acting the muppet because you lose about 30 minutes of the film, you spend about 10-15 minutes being distracted by the muppet, trying to decide if you're going to say something, then you use up another 10-15 minutes when you go over and say something and the person is usually an absolute asshole so when you sit back down, you're distracted by your anger, then you return your attention to the film not knowing what's going on.

Another thing that annoys me is when you go out to the staff and explain what's going on, they stick their head in 5 minutes later, everyone is behaving themselves and as soon as the employee leaves, they start acting the dick again. Are they not supposed to poke their heads in regularly to ensure nobody is acting the dick?!

Anyway, sorry, mega rant there, clearly a sore topic for me :pac:
