Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Users. Especially in work or in the family. Because I can't get away from them. And they won't take no for an answer. For goodness sake how many different ways are there to say I am not in a position to do that at the moment. Go away and torment someone else. And do something nice in return for them while you are at it.
Woman at work pestering me to help her with an upcoming interview. She only gives me the time of day when she has an interview coming up. I've helped her a much as I can do. For her last one I gave her very useful documentation on our sector. The day before the last interview she admitted she couldn't remember where she put it and asked me if I was free over the weekend to help her. I told I was going away (I wasn't). She texted me the night of the interview to tell how it went (I hadn't asked her to let me know ). She texted me yesterday to say she wasn't successful (I don't care). She went down in the area for which I had given her the documentation. (So she hadn't studied it) and that she has another interview coming up. I texted I had to go as I had a visitor. She texted back 'promise you'll help me with the next one' that's all the text said. I didn't reply. For goodness sake apart from going in and sitting the interview for her I can't do anything more. She'll be wanting me to drop everything this weekend now to meet up for interview talk. Oh I have made plenty of plans . . .
And when she finally gets the job she wants I won't see her for dust.
And don't get me started on family. .

Forgot to buy cheese slices in my big shop, was in localish german supermarket on sun, was so packed I couldn't wander around to stimulate my memory on what I wanted to buy there, but still managed to spend more than I intended.

Yesterday I finally remembered and went shopping, I spent a long while comparing the fat content of the various brands, waited for ages at the till, to discover as I walked out I had been comparing salt and not fat content, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

My colleague who is incapable of listening to anything.

Me: ___, can I ask you something?
    Colleague: Sure go ahead.
Me: Mary from accounts at ___ called earlier, she isn't sure about some invoices she received from us, she wants to arrange a meeting to discuss. Do you want to deal with it or will I pass it on to ___?
    Colleague: ?????????? (blank stare)

    Colleague: Sorry, WHO?
    Me: Mary
Colleague: Ok, from what company now?
    Me: _____
Colleague: And what department is she in?
    Me: _____
Colleague: Right, what does she want?
Me: She has an issue with some invoices.
Colleague: Ok, put her through and I'll speak to her.
Me: She isn't on the phone, this happened earlier. She wants to arrange a meeting to discuss.
Colleague: *sighs* Ok, you should have said. I'll drop her an email.

Worse things to be of a Tuesday.

I really hope as you got your order (after being informed of the sugar tax) that you said to the cashier, "Oh and you can tax this!" as you flipped them the middle finger :P

I know you are far too nice to that btw

The fact that I only have to tap my phone to take a screenshot!
I'm just after screenshoting a pretty weirdly personal part of someone's Instagram story by accident. Not sure how I'll explain that, pretty sure they won't believe I just idly tap the screen with my nails while watching and just happened to tap accidentally at this exact minute.

Wouldn't mind but I set this "trap to screenshot" thing up myself so really it's me trivially annoying myself.

To be fair, the guy was as annoyed with the damned tax as me. We had a good chat about it.

Trying hard to deal with a serious dose of anxiety today so going to switch off now and watch some Homeland which will hopefully distract me :)

Running in the morning after a break today might also help :D

    Enjoy the footy!

My car needs to be serviced. I rang my usual mechanic on Thursday to make an appointment for anytime in the next few weeks. He Told me to ring him Saturday morning and he would let me know if he could do it that day. I phoned him Saturday and he said he couldn't and would I ring him this morning. I rang him this morning and he said he was busy in the morning and would I ring him back at two o clock to see if he could do it after dinner. I rang him at two o clock and the phone rang out. No message minder set up. Left it ten minutes then rang again same thing no answer. Left it half an hour to see if he would ring back .no. for goodness sake - shouldn't he be the one ringing me? is there something wrong with my money or what. I said anytime in the next few weeks - I just want to make the bloody appointment so I can book time off work to leave the car over to him.

I Put plan b into action then - have booked it into another place who will do it this Saturday.

But in my experience especially with tradesmen I feel like I have to beg them to give me a quote or to do a job and that I'm putting them out . There's plenty of space in Room 101 for these guys!

My dad trying to get anyone to do a "torch on felt roof" and replace the wood roof on a 20 x 20 shed,
4 have come, will be in touch with a quote,
One rang back with a you should do it with corrugated sheets and reinforce the roof under it, be better and last longer, I can get you a quote,
No Thanks, my dad says just a quote for the felt one.

NOT ONE has rang back in the 2 weeks.

Reminds me of the boom in 04-05, you couldn't get a tradesman at all, turned there noses up at the small jobs and charged extortionate prices , then crash happened and jaysus if you even mentioned you needed a small job they'd nearly bite the hand off ya .

Not even that, all you heard about back then was how the downturn was so hard on tradesmen etc etc, well they were part of the problem, blowing up prices just because they could!

My TA is I don't trust the weather. It's now sunny but do I dress for sunny or do I dress for lashing rain at lunchtime?

When I was a factory worker I clocked in and out and got paid by the hour. Same when I worked in a hotel. Fair ‘nuff

Now I’m in a supposedly “professional” job (office drone) and haven’t had to do that for years. No need for it

We’ve introduced it again and my assistant manager checks all my times like I’m a teenager on minimum wage

The fact I was in 30 minutes early at month end or you see me wolfing down my lunch at my desk never gets any credit

TA’d at being treated like I can’t be trusted

Deli lady absolutely destroyed my sandwich with sauce. It was oozing out the sides of the sandwich and got all over the outside of it so I couldn't pick it up without completely covering my hands in the stuff. Still a nice enough sandwich and I do enjoy sauce as much as most but christ almighty. Ease up!

I've just downloaded Toyota's FaceItDown App. I can see it being a good idea yes, but shure... I'm frazzled as to how it can work being so restrictive, - what if you're actually using GPS on the Phone itself, - Not every Map service has voice feature, and you might stil need throw an occasional glance on the Phone Screen to look at the Map anyway to make sure you're going in the right direction so how would you be able to see Map if Phone is face down! And what if you've driven 5 hours and your Phone rings! You pull in to answer it, but any contact with the Phone at all renders those whole 5 hours of points in-valid! And lastly, you have to be connected to the Internet in order for it to work! Shure would 2/3 hours of Internet-Connection not eat up your Phone's Battery! And that's making me wonder if the App itself would be hard on Battery-consumption.

Great idea but how was it ever going to work in the first place like with these issues!

I wish the person behind me this morning used it. Stop/Start slow moving traffic and they would see there is a big gap between me and them after taking their eyes off the phone, start driving but still keeping one eye on the phone, put 2 eyes on the phone and jam on right up my ar$e.

I was basically just waiting for the *bang*

I bought an amazing dress from an American website for a wedding I have in two weeks. I’m in between a small and a medium so for some reason I went for the small. The dress took three weeks to get here, forty euro in customs and when I took it out of the package I’m like wtf is that it won’t go on my big toe. So I tried it on and couldn’t get it up over my Tesco sandwich arse. So now I’m lumbered with a dress that won’t go on me, can’t order the medium cos I won’t have it in time, the realisation I’m no longer a size 8 and a Dominos and Donuts arse I need to lose in two weeks.

One of my TAs recently is that clothes are made so sh*ttily these days in general. Shops and online are just heaving with flimsy tack.

I ordered a white blazer dress off River Island. It was £60 so I expected it to be of some half decent quality. Dress looked ok from the front but turned around and I may as well have been looking through glass because you could see my entire knickers. Not an inch of lining. Arguably I could wear some of a slip underneath but why should I buy one when I have just spent £60/€70 on something that I expect to be wearable without forking out on special underwear.

My TA with clothes is that sizes vary so much. I can go into any shoe shop and know that the shoe sizes are the same. They seem to be standard. It doesn't work like that with clothes. A size 12 in Penneys could be an 8 in high street shops. It's really frustrating. There should be an industry wide standardisation of sizes.

    Freaked out and TA !

I was using a wheat bag this last while rather than a hot water bottle, and this evening it was smelling of burnt wheat when I took it out of the microwave. I aired it but still brought it to bed, thinking maybe I had left it a bit too long and it would cool down anyways... But it wasn't really cooling, and I didn't trust it. I put it in the sink and poured water on it (risk of fire freaks me out) and it went like I had poured water over hot coals !

That thing is going in the bin of course, but I'm annoyed as I loved it so much. Water bottle it is now I guess.

Very scary stories about wheat bags self igniting, thought I'd post this here, might warn someone else !
