medium snow in leopardstown D18 again now. hopefully cold enough that it might start to stick

hope it stays snowing for the next hour or so, nothing like cycling home with snow falling, bliss....
Wasn't the nice, soft, fluffy flakes I was anticipating, more sleet, graupel, even some hail for a bit. Stingy eyes at times. Grrr

Regarding temperatures, they're going to go up a little bit as "Fionn" passes through, keep that in mind.

shower still on-going here, mixture of graupel and snow now and a fresh dusting.

This is the heaviest of the showery activity now, with cloud tops up to around 5000 metres. Dewpoints are nowhere near the -4 forecast for now, which is why any snow is so wet and slushy. Still nowhere near the GFS chart's fantasy wonderland, which had all of Ireland and Scotland, and surrounding sea areas, 100% snow at all levels by now. Rain, sleet and wet snow are what we have at low levels. Certainly nothing to get excited about, given that 5 minutes after it passes we're left with a pool of slop. Typical of a northwesterly, and certainly nowhere close to the dry snow of 2010.

The north has done a bit better, though the lowest stations are reporting no lying snow. Ballypatrick Forest (160 m) had lying snow earlier but it's gone now.

Lying snow reports at 6 pm.

    Glennane (160 m) 18 cm
    Lough Fea (225 m) 12 cm
    Thomastown (72 m) 4 cm
    Knock (205 m) 3 cm

Lovely dry snow here at sea level. :)

A light covering of snow on cars her now and a slight covering on the grass and other surfaces but not the roads. It's 0.4C with a DP of -1.2C.

Stopped snowing here over an hour ago still on the cars and green areas foot paths and roads are just wet with puddles of water. According to Six One weather the showers should retreat to coastal areas the second part of the night but the North should see more snow before the night is out. Ah well hopefully we will at least get another cold snowy spell over the next couple of weeks. It was fun while it lasted for me anyway.

getting heavy snow showers every so often accompined with really strong winds in cork city, but none of it is sticking because the ground is so wet. Shame but hey snow is snow

I'm reading all day, so here's my tuppence worth.

Gone from a little dusting to a little blanket. It's been chucking it down on and off since about 4pm. Just saw a car enter my estate at speed. Tried to take a sharp left turn and skidded into the footpath in front of him. A Hole. Not a major snowfall by any means, but people will still be idiots.

    South Laois.

Flying into cork airport at 23.00 tonight then driving to Killarney.
What will the roads be like at that time, any ideas?
