Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Do Sunday evenings still give you that 'I haven't done my maths homework' feeling

It's years since I left school but it's only quite recently that I've managed to shake off that slightly apprehensive feel on a Sunday evening. I know other adults who still get the heebie jeebies if they hear the theme from Glenroe playing, or hate watching Last of the Summer Wine because it gives them an 'end of the weekend' feel.

A few pints and a chicken curry will sort that out for you.

No, but then I never really got that on Sundays.

I pretty much always did my homework around 9pm the day before it was due, so not having my homework done on a Sunday evening was par for the course.

    Always a last-minuter I was.

Absolutely this. I even get that feeling on a Friday after I leave work, dreading doing the ironing on a Sunday.

I love doing the ironing! What's wrong with ye?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,942 ✭✭✭topper75

    No.
    I usually had it done.

I'd arrive in on Monday and ask around. As soon as the teacher came in, I'd go up and whisper the names of the people that hadn't it done.

I still have a smug expression on my face when I think back.

Never did any maths homework. Did it all in the maths lesson. In fact never did any homework at home. Did all that in the maths lessons also. I like maths....

Father ted is the Glenroe of my adult years.

When that comes on on a sunday night the depression kicks in.

It's worse for me on Sunday, because I usually enjoy my Friday evenings and Saturdays. Sundays are like a depressing realisation that I have to work again for another 5 days before I have another 2 days off. Would love 3 day weekends, Saturday to Monday.

No, I'm one of these strange people who likes Monday mornings. :D

I rarely lounge around watching TV on Sunday evenings, I like to get out for a few tea-time pints and then either ram-raid the chipper or else hit up the local Indian or Italian with Woman.

No matter how bad my job gets, I don't think anything can come close to the dread of hearing the Glenroe music. Gives me PTSD even thinking about it

I usually try to cook a nice meal on a Sunday evening, and have an early night. Of course, since I've left the Saturday night clubbing days behind me, I rarely have the horrors trying to get to sleep on a Sunday

Probably why a lot of people always have the few pints on a Sunday evening.

That and because pints are lovely.

    Lovely pints.

There is something very civilised about four or five cold ones on a Sunday evening. I too have left my clubbing days far behind... :pac:

No you silly billy, it was "Saturday Night" from Boy album that he was referring to.

Sunday morning has a lot of promise but the evening is the worst because you realize this is as good as it gets.
It's best to be hungover so you can convince yourself it'll be grand when your better

Even though I like my job I still get it, I also sometimes have a dream where my leaving cert starts in a few weeks and I've done nothing!
Strange thing is my college finals were much more stressful but I never dream about them.

Anyway, I like a good film or TV show to watch on a Sunday - or a trip to the cinema - something nice to look forward to at the end of the weekend.

I get it every Sunday. It’s not that I dislike my job. It’s the thought of my alarm going off and having to leave my lovely warm bed to go out in the cold and the rain. It’s not so bad in the summer.

Always had the homework done on Friday night, with the odd English or History essay left for Sunday lunchtime.

Now it’s the “ah crap I haven’t ironed the shirts” so I’ve started doing them in fortnightly batches during the Sunday afternoon football.

I am happy to report that no Glenroes for me :) There is a bit of a "oh I have to get up and do things and eat properly because it's not the weekend" but apart from that it's grand.
