Go back and look at the films of Eisenhower and see how he "cleaned" his desk before a photo op. Is it possible that history is repeating itself?

"During his presidency, he was widely seen by critics as an inactive, uninspiring, golf-playing president."

From Wikipedia. I guess there are some similarities.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwight_D._Eisenhower
I mean fair enough Eisenhower did play a lot of golf(badly) but to be fair to Eisenhower. He had done the United States some service and hadn't been affected by those pesky born spurs prior to becoming the  president of the United States.
I apologize for only making a partial statement. My point was that prior to a photo op, Ike would literally open his top desk drawer and scoop all the papers et al into the drawer and close it … giving the impression of a clean desk. I meant zero disrespect for the man or his Presidency and I hope that I did not give that impression.

Also maybe avanatti isn't normally this cocky but in trump, cohen, gulianni he's hardly up against the 1927 yankees.*

*sorry that might be a very confusing comparison. The 1927 New York yankees are considered an all time great baseball team.

    https://edition.cnn.com/2018/05/31/politics/martha-stewart-rod-blagojevich-trump-pardons/index.html

Now why would Trump get it into his head that this corrupt democrat in particular suddenly needed his help especially such an open and shut case (Literally caught redhanded selling a Senate seat to the highest bidder, Barack Obamas funnily enough, vacated when he got elected president.)
Trump's comments about Blagojevich come three days after the disgraced Illinois governor published an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal arguing that "the rule of law is under assault in America" and is being "perverted and abused" by some FBI and Justice Department officials -- comments that closely mirrored Trump's recent rhetoric about the Mueller investigation, FBI and Justice Department officials.
So all Blagojevich had to do was write an article warning that the FBI and Justice Departments werent to be trusted and its going to get him a pardon or his sentence commuted? They're really scraping the barrel looking for people to back up Trumps wild Twitter accusations here.

No apology necessary friend. I think the difference between president Eisenhower and trump is that while Ike was clearly probably a lot of actually important papers into his top drawer, trump probably has nothing to put in there. Executive time is paper free as we have seen.

Suspiciously Donald like tweet sent from the Melania's twitter.

    https://twitter.com/FLOTUS/status/1001912411933364224

Also, Kim Kardashian looking good for a spot in the Justice Department

    https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1001961235838103552

I thought the Kim thing was a joke...

At first I thought Melania is just trying to avoid the whole presidency thing, I didn't know she was a hostage.

Looks like being a fan of the current POTUS is not a popular thing here. The biggest and best accomplishment of this administration has to do with the courts ... beginning with the Supreme Court followed by the District Courts. Look at what is happening ... and after only 18 months. Trans Pacific. Iran. NOKO. Hostages ... the list goes on.
In a quick response to a prior post ... stay tuned about "lock her up". This deplorable is still waiting for the IG report. Tax cuts ... they sure have helped me. But then "crumbs" Nancy wants to repeal those and increase taxes.
BTW ... the creeps in MS-13 are indeed ANIMALS. Look at photos of their victims and tell me I'm wrong. Having said that, I anticipate that someone will ... but I doubt the will have looked at the photos.

Nominating a supreme court judge as the president is like me writing code at work. It's a basic part of the job.

I think most people should put the whole TPP discussion to bed .

Anyone who thinks Trump was a fool to tear it up and take America out of it , must also think Hilary Clinton is a fool, because she said she would do the exact same thing.

The main thing you're forgetting is that Clinton supports have the ability to dislike something about her. It's a strange concept but you don't have to twist every situation into her being right.

Anyone listened to these recordings and is up to speed on the surrounding story?

    https://twitter.com/hashtag/ReleaseTheTapes?src=hash

Seems like it could be important but I find the sound quality a bit hard and am not sure how the court proceedings are going.

This is the first time I'm hearing about it, but, to quote DonDon himself, "huge if true".

The tapes have not been released!?

According to Cohen's lawyers, they are under lock and key.

Avenatti says he has a source who confirmed that Trump is on one of the tapes.

Oh c'mon. I think he's as much of a racist as everyone else does, but it doesn't look like that priest (?) had any desire to interact with him, no eye contact or anything.

This kind of thing only reinforces his defenders for when he does do something heinous.

I tend to agree with you , the optics of it weren't very good on my phone when i viewed it initially but it could be a simple case of the priest having something in his hand or simply not being interested in Trump.

    It's maddening isn't it?

Trump behaves like he does, flat out lies 24/7 and his supporters have no issue, but if the sane people in the world make one mistake (like using photos from Obama's time of photos of children sleeping in cages) Trump and supporters are all over it screaming Fake News.

Well done that man. Now start a trend.

Maybe the kneelers could start carrying maces instead (until they are sent to their locker rooms for disrespect to the Oaf in chief)

Rudi said 2 weeks ago or so that impeachment is pretty much inevitable.

He said he isn't worried on the collusion front.

So, angling for the impeachment issue, he admitted that will come down to what the constituents will direct their representatives on how to vote. Its for that reason the PR war on the "Deep State" continues.

Admitting and preparing for impeachment, look at how the latest pardon and 2 that are expected thereafter fits in with that danger.

DeSouza was guilty of campaign finance violations. Cohen is in trouble for that.

Blagojevich was caught "on tape" selling Obama's seat. There are supposed to be tapes of Cohen/Trump.

Stewart is a plain old celebrity that went to jail.. as might Trump be.

At this stage he isn't even hiding it. He knows he is screwed and is going all out.

These pardons are more evidence in the obstruction column I reckon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,714 ✭✭✭amandstu

Okay ,lets suppose he is guilty and of something in the broad impeachment area ,what is people's best guess to what he may actually have done (as distinct from what he may be charged with)

My feeling is reckless indifference and toleration of openly criminal associates (enough to impeach successfully I don't know).

But I would also plump for obstruction of justice and feel more confident about that.

Very surprised by the way if Fry was implying Trump was being deliberately disrespectful(almost feel sorry for him if that was possible)

    There's a long long list.

Emoulement issues, obstruction, collusion, money laundering, campaign finance violations, using his position to go after his perceived enemies, (which was one of the charges against Nixon) Jim Bezos. That's just off the top of my head

Obstruction of justice or something related to campaign finances is probably most likely but I wouldn’t say impeachment is a given. Depends on what the layout of Congress looks like after mid terms I think.

Unless there is a smoking gun then it looks like the Repubs will stick with him (so no impeachment) so long as they have a majority in the House(s). Will be fun watching them scatter if they don't.

Trump isn't even trying to be subtle at this point. I mean he makes nixon look like a criminal mastermind. I'll be honest listening to the cohen tape that Lawrence o Donnell played on his show last night Michael cohen comes across as a nasty piece of work, but maybe he's just a mirror of his boss trump.

Btw, seeing as SHS tried to muddy the waters on trumps tweet to claim there was double standard. ESPN Did suspend the employee for violating their social media policy and the ABC personality caller VP pence personally to apologise and made an on air Mea aculpa. So, shock horror there isn't a double standard.

This isn't actually what was played on the show I said in the last post, it's actually more. I'd not heard the part about the Miss USA until now. That sounds slightly sinister.

It was a video clip on one of the last rwo pages showing Don shaking the right hands of senior clergy at a UK church event. The 4th person approaching Don is holding a mace and seem's to be transferring it to his right hand and shoulder as he near's Don so he and Don weren't able to shate hands. A colourful aspect of the clip is noticable.

Someone (a hacker?) just tweeted this video along with a supposed comment of "wow" by Fry.

It is quite an old video but obviously genuine and open to interpretation.

Donald Trump briefly spoke to reporters before boarding Air Force One yesterday, and the president talked about traveling to Texas, where "we're going to have a little fun today."

It was an odd choice of words: Trump was scheduled to meet with family members who lost loved ones at the recent mass shooting in a Houston-area high school. "Fun" wasn't really the point.

    Crikey

If you look carefully at the handshaking clip, the man with the mace actually transferred it to his right shoulder as he comes into picture. He was the one that didn't want to shake hands, put Trump's nose out of joint!
