Tbh I’d be ok with that. But it’s an oddly timed piece of dick waving from Putin given what happening around the Trump administration right now.

And the US DOD tweeting a clip of a Hercules on a bombing run saying ‘you don’t want to mess with the Hercules!’ Pretty much USA!! USA!!

    Weird stuff

Not weird at all really. Putin knows that Trump will do nothing, if Trump isn't minded to even bring in sanctions when it has been shown the Russia tried to influence the election, then he is betting that he can pretty much do anything (short of attack).

So this was not a message aimed at the US, it was aimed mostly for Russia, but also Europe and China (but mainly Europe IMO).

Worrying comments from Putin yesterday. Russia is developing new nukes that are impervious to detection and any nuclear attack on Russian allies will be treated as an attack on Russia itself.

    Russia has allies??? Where??
Perhaps you havent noticed the goings on in Syria over the last few years?
Russia closely allied with the Assad govt and Iran (shias), fighting with the Syrian national army against rebels aided and abetted by the US and the Gulf States (sunnis).

The new "underwater drone" concept sounds interesting. I think the Russians may have pipped the Americans to the post on this one, just as they did by putting the first man in space, and the first sputnik.
They could have thousands of unmanned submarines skulking around the world's oceans already.

These recent announcements of Putin's are directed entirely at the domestic audience. The first round of elections are on March 18th. His ability to arouse feelings of patriotic pride in the people is one of his strongest cards.

Trump's parades will be an attempt by him to tap into the same sort of thing.

That would be unfortunate. McMaster was one of the best moves Trump has made.

McMaster was still serving in the Army when Trumpski "ordered" him as comander in chief him to take the job. He's not there voluntary by any means, I read somewhere a week or two ago that they were looking for another post for him and not leaving the military.

Trump can't do or say anything, the Russians clearly have him by the balls. Look at how he treats other foreign leaders.

Regardless, that does not deny the fact that McMaster is an outstanding officer who is quite well suited for the position. He may not like his boss, but that's not stopping him from doing his job.

Him not liking the boss, isn't the problem. It's the boss not liking him.

    https://www.theguardian.com/business/2018/mar/02/carl-icahn-shares-sell-trump-steel-tariffs-announcement-timing

One of Trump buddies dumps his steel shares a week before Trumpski decided to put a 25% tariff on steel imports. The stock Icahn dumped lost 5-6% already, so that was a stroke of luck for him.......

Pure coincidence I know just like Jared getting loans for a half a billion just after meeting bankers in the white house.

The amount of scandals and shady stuff going on in this admin is unbelivable. Any one of these would bring down any other President but this dude seems immune.

If he includes Canada, Trump is open to legal challenge, as the Security Flag being used, cannot be applied to Canada. CNN

Didn't we hear the same 'Trump to fire' type stories regarding Kelly a few months ago?

We heard the same about Rex Tillerson back before Christmas that he'd be gone by January, I don't doubt some of these guys will go in time but "by the end of the month" is a little dubious given nothing in Trumps admin is ever properly planned and his ability to change his mind daily on just about everything means its honestly just guesswork.

To be fair, getting rid Javanka who honestly have no purpose being in that white house, wouldn't be a bad thing. There's a lot said about Kelly as a person but he's trying to bring "some" level of stability and normality to the WH which wasn't seen last year. Without Kelly the nukes might already be flying.

Apparently the EU has been preparing for this Trumpism for a long time. Their threatened response is targeted with surgical precision. Harley-Davidson motorcycles are made in Speaker Paul Ryan's district. Orange juice comes from Florida a key swing state. Bourbon is a key export of Kentucky which is Mitch McConnell's stomping ground. Never mind the impact of tariffs from Canada, China, etc. Roll on the midterms.

Jaysis. He’s on holiday most of the time. I never truly believed he wanted to win the presidency but numbers like this just bear that out.

Look on the bright side, at least if he's having a holiday, he's not doing any active damage to the country.

The White House is on lock down because someone shot themselves near the north lawn of the White House.

Indeed, we'd all be better off if he spent every day golfing.

Nice piece on Slate tying Kushner's failed attempts at being a real-estate magnate, to the Trump/Russia axis and how this is all coming to a head now as Kushner's note of 1.8bn is due: https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2018/03/a-series-of-revelations-about-jared-kushner-have-added-further-credence-to-a-key-claim-of-the-steele-dossier.html

Summary quote: "The bottom line is that all this new Kushner news connects more dots in the Steele dossier’s core allegation: that there may have been a quid-pro-quo of Russian oil money for Trump policy change on sanctions."

I don't believe Trumpy's smart enough to have figured out that intimidating the Qatari's in order to get money for Jared would work, but he's dumb and lazy and not stable. However, Kushner's an offspring of a convicted felon (interesting reference to ex-con father at one of the meetings with the Qatari's) and 'the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree' so deluding daddy-in-law wouldn't be hard for him, esp. since Daddy listens to his wife.

And those that voted for Trump, this is all ok because maybe HRC mishandled a few out of ten's of thousands of e-mails? *headslap*

The President of the United States thinks Xi Jinpings power grab is "great". When he tells a room of spporters that he might try it himself they applaud. What a time to be alive.

And when Paul Ryan gets asked about this he'll shrug and say "he wasn't serious". Mitch McConnell will hurrumph and leave it at that. A President can be impeached for failing to execute their duties. What sanctions are there for the Republican leadership who have failed and continue to fail their own constitution?

Whenever DJT leaves office I expect there'll be a thorough program of De-Trumpification. You'll never see a street or library named after him and all those hypocrites and cowards who could be doing something now will step forward to condemn him and expect everyone to forgive and forget. Pretty infuriating but there is an alternative scenario where they just go looking for their next Trump and that's quite terrifying.

It seems Trump is getting his military parade. However, in this case, it makes sense: The Pentagon has stated it has received instruction to parade on 11 Nov 18, veterans day and the 100th anniversary of the end of WW1.

In the meantime, ICE director and Oakland mayor are having a war of words. Mayor warned the locals of ICE raids just before they happened.

It's probably somewhat noteworthy that Trump / the NRA / many other Second Amendment fans talk about the fear of the rise of a tyrannical government. Yet they now want to hold a spectacular military parade to remind themselves of just how easily and brutally the armed forces could slaughter the gun-wielding civilian population.

... whilst Trump says that if he could rule forever, he would

Must be terrible for some, living in a democracy, to realise, every person you meet, is equal to yourself.

Once more, it feels like The Simpsons was ahead of the curve here, when Sideshow Bob remarked of Americans that "...Your guilty conscience may move you to vote Democratic, but deep down you long for a cold-hearted Republican to lower taxes, brutalize criminals, and rule you like a king"

This just popped up on my fb memories. I saw Trumps plane once a couple of years ago in New York. He was a ‘reality’ tv show Star at the time..little did I know

Yet it's the military, embodied by Mattis, Kelly and McMaster who are doing everything they can to keep the whole shebang from collapsing.

Not Trump related but this paragragh is mind boggling:
Under the current law in Kentucky, 16 and 17-year-olds can marry with their parents’ permission, and a girl of any age under 16 can marry as long as they are pregnant and marrying the expectant father. Likewise, a boy of any age can marry a woman that he impregnates under the current law.

And it is funnier still considering that Kelsey Grammer is a Trump voting Republican.
