In other news, it appears from twitter (pinch of salt and all that) that there will be a cyber and financial crime announcement from the DOJ/Rosenstein later today at around 4. This may be entirely coincidental but it has a certain embassy squatter' attention.

    https://twitter.com/JulianAssange/status/976992501696466944

    Today could get very interesting.

Umm, are we to read from that that Julian still has a leaker in the Trump Admin giving him insider info, or contact with an active hacker, or a shout "I'm still here and very relevant", or treat it as a version of a Don tweet?

The image seems to have originated from someone called Eric Geller, a Cyber Security reporter. I don't really know anything about him but I've seen his name about and he seems sane.

    BBC summary of John Bolton
A pre-emptive strike against North Korea is perfectly justified

Bombing Iran is probably OK, too

The Iraq War wasn't a mistake

Russia needs to be dealt with strongly

He's not the biggest fan of the UN

There doesn't seem to be any nation that he wouldn't blow up.

He does seem to be intelligent and independent though, if having a world view that I don't agree with at all.
I would imagine he and Donald will fall out over Russia in the short term and that could mean more dispatching via twitter.

His SuperPAC paid $1.2 million to Cambridge Analytica and his boss is Rebekah Mercer (She was pushing him for SOS when she was de facto) heading Trump's transition team. If he opens his mouth on Russia he will quickly be put straight and not by Donald Trump.

Dezinformatsiya came to mind, whether for mischief purposes or to distract from another Don event, whatever about the Ecuadorian Embassy tying themselves into the mess of US national politics; the implanting of a notion into Don's head that JS is not telling him what's happening in the DoJ, leading to another firing event.

    Edit: OK, Politico correspondent......

Yeah. It's hard to be sure of a lot of things these days. We're living in very interesting times.

We'll know either way at 2 o clock Irish time.

Since it's Friday, here's some info from Stormy Daniels's lawyer. If you've been following this, you'll know that her lawyer is a lot smarter than the lawyers that Trump can hire.

He posted a teaser for Sunday's 60 minutes show.

    https://twitter.com/MichaelAvenatti/status/977015170231885825

With all the serious fúckery emanating from Trump and those around him, I'm finding this episode to be quite funny and entertaining.

Indeed. Trump has not focused on individuals with the same beliefs to implement his policy. He seems to go for people who compliment him and don't contradict him. Bolton might not be massively pro Russia himself but he is smart enough to keep his mouth shut and trying to get other countries bombed.

See McMaster who seems made a mistake pointing out Russian interference in the 2016 election or Tillerson who had his race end by pointing out Trump is a Moran.

Contrast to Bolton who is not the best policy fit (as near as Trump can said to have a policy) in terms of Republicans but has been smart about complimenting the man on Fox News. All those Fox News hosts are well aware that enough mindless compliments and ignoring of facts will get them a position in the white house.

Next position should be opening up soon enough. I will be checking the nyt for tips on who is out next as opposed to anything Trump or SHS says!

To think going against his supposedly anti war policies and bringing a massively pro war aide is not even close to the biggest thing he has done this week given he has voluntarily knocked a few points off the US economy!

Agreed. I know it's quasi tabloid stuff and I would like to think that I was too cerebral to give a **** about this but now my level of disdain for Trump has reached a level where I am completely sucked in (No pun intended). Any discomfort for DT is okay by me

Apologies for being a bit slow on the uptake, but is he teasing the unveiling of some sort of compromising photo?

Same here. I'm also quite impressed by how the lawyer and Stormy have played this. I'll be disappointed if there isn't something icky in there.

I wouldn't hold my breath thinking that the Stormy interview will do much. It is more than likely that Trump will fire someone, send out a tweet calling Mueller a big meanie or something.

Last night saw an interview with an ex playboy model, talking about a 10 month affair around the time of Barron being born. And nothing. Hardly even mentioned and certainly not being mentioned in terms of it being massively damaging to Trump.

Why would Stormy be any different. At this stage people are willing to basically accept whatever he does or did. They have tied their raft to his boat and are going to go along no matter what. He could shoot someone as he says.

It mirrors Brexit a lot, in that it appears that people have made a choice and don't want to hear anything to burst that bubble. You can bet that if war with Iran starts it will be because Trump has to, that he did everything he could. When the trade war causes a recession it will be because the Dems wouldn't agree on spending bill.

There was a audience member of Question Time last night saying that why is everyone so down on Brexit, couldn't it all work out in the end? And that's the same with Trump. People want to so much believe that they weren't conned, that the political system is in such disarray as to leave a choice between HC and Trump, that even with such a poor field they still managed to pick the worst option.

Because to admit that is to admit that you have played a part in any negative outcomes. Far easier to blame everyone and everything else than accept that you played an active part and are part of the problem.

I don't think anything will happen to him arising from the interview, or at least anything in the public eye. I agree with you on that.

however - last night would have been tremendously uncomfortable for him on a personal level, and Sunday will be worse again. And as i said above - it might be small and petty of me but I cannot say I won't enjoy him squirm

It'd be interesting to find what [in a totally anonymous poll] the result would be if Republican voters were asked to say who they'd vote to be their party nominee knowing NOW how Don has performed so far [with the advantage he has of a Capitol Hill majority] on a published graph.

The latest polling shows that his approval rating has increased to its highest point since Feb 17 and the dissatisfaction has dropped 3 points.

So it would appear from that, that GOP members are more than happy with him.

    That actually beggars belief.

    A video more likely.
I hope it's just for evidence and it won't be shown to the public. Just show their faces if you have to. I despise Trump but also despise revenge porn...

But apparently lots of the politicians have already departed DC as the deal was thought to be done.

So did Trump agree to it yesterday and then decide last night to 180 on it?

Probably because of the ridicule he got when he announced it?

Fine, but then he shouldn't have agreed to it then?

What kind of leadership is that? You agree to something and when people say they are not happy you go back on what you agreed?

    So why is he POTUS?

I 100% agree. My comment was a guess.

Reuters reporting that it will be a press conference. Not specific as to whether Trump will be at it but it seems as if he will.
