They are widely available in the Uk but looking for source in south Dublin / North Wicklow. Any suggestions appreciated

Ask, Teak are strong woods too.

Any joinery that has turning facilities can Knock this out in minutes.

    Or hand turned too.

So whats the shortest length suitable??

Needs to be about 30mm diam as its for climbing with on a peg board , need about 10 dowels , 150mm long. Dont mind the wood type , just needs to be fairly strong .
Will have a look at local joinery & diy shop to look at handles.

Is there any woodwork shop aroind bray youd suggest ?
    Thanks all

Find an old hardware shop and bring a vernier. You should find something like hay fork handles to suit. Do they need to be inserted into a hole for a snug fit ?.I'd bring a test piece with a hole just to be sure.

You can get thicker broom handles of about 30mm, designed for yard brushes

Set up a router with a 15mm radius round over bit in a round over bit and run 30mm square stock on all edges.
