Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ones I can remember, (in English BTW!!)

    Cork, Dublin, Shannon,

Heathrow, Stansted, Gatwick, Liverpool, Leeds-Bradford, Glasgow, Newcastle,

Izmir, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Keflavik (Iceland), Liege, Landvetter (Sweden), Talinn, Larnaca (Cyprus), Palma, Murcia, Alicante, Malaga, Las Palmas, Tenerife Sur, Arreciefe (Lanzarote),

JFK, Newark, Charlotte, Toronto, Vegas McCarran, Louis Armstrong (New Orleans), Chicago O'Hare,

That's 33 - it's more than I thought but I think I might still be missing one or two.

It's a huge airport that all the other airports fit inside.

Best one from an architectural point of view is Oslo that I've been through. That wooden beamed superstructure is awesome. Most underwhelming has to be TokyoNarita imo.

Favourite airports I’ve landed in: Lisbon which is right in the city, the approach flies over the city centre and Keflavik International in Iceland, like landing in a lunar landscape.

Way more than I thought - 49. Worst by a mile was Buenos Aires. Queue after queue after queue - a model of inefficiency. Took 3 hours from once we landed until we got into a taxi.

The airport is your first impression of any city or country. It should be a good experience. I feel sorry for non EU passengers at immigration in Dublin. Massive queue always.

I know what you are saying.

None of the airports listed in the posts above that I am familiar with are places I'd chose to be in again all things being equal. Sure,'some are better than others but even the best fail to offer a pleasant experience to travellers.

The airlines for the most part don't help either.

I think for most people these days air travel is more something to be endured rather than enjoyed.

About 65 in total. Didn't fly until I was 26, but that first flight was Manchester to Barbados

Visited Tom Bradley, Ronald Regan and John Wayne, plus another 10 or so US airports. Also had a trip to John Lennon, but alas no George Best

Reckon I've used about 17 airports in Britain, but only 1 in Ireland

Only one in Africa (Sharm el Sheikh) one in Asia (Singapore), one in Australasia (Melbourne), and two in the Indian Ocean (Seychelles and one of its islands). A couple in South America (Sao Paulo & Buenos Aires), 4 in the Caribbean with the rest across Europe

Built up over three-quarters of a million Avios points over the past 20 years or so. Hopefully I'll live to spend them (should get me a few business class returns to the other side of the World)

Not typing mine in, would take too long, however according to the ever handy TripIt app, in 2017 i did:

    98278 miles
    14 Countries
    32 Cities
    9 days in the air
    3.95 times around the world.

    Goal for 2018?
At least 75% down on all those numbers.

Lovely city. You're going just before peak time so this advice might not be needed but any sights you really want to see, go early. Like 9am or earlier if possible.

Wa there in September. Went through security and into duty free. First airport iv come across that doesn't stock cigarettes in Duty Free. Had to get security to let me back out to departures area. Stocked up in WH Smiths wit a few cartons and back through all the security checks again

But which of these airports has the best smoking area would be the question I want answered, Dublin airport actually holds up pretty well in that regard as its not tiny, open air and you can take your pint out too it.

now imagine that on a typical day with blustery wind and rain (a frequent visitor would rather fly to DUB and drive than ever land there again...the wimp)

The old Kai Tak in Hong Kong was the definition of a buttock-clenching landing, the approach was barely above the roofs of apartment blocks, then a handbrake turn and drop onto the runway.

Manchester has one, but it's basically a random door behind one of the bars, brings you out to a sh1tty rooftop. Most of the uk airports are non-existant smoking areas (if anyone knows where there one in T2 in Heathrow, I'd be very grateful)
