What did you think of Manics, megaman? They seemed a bit subdued. Beck was great and they're all coming out of the woodwork for Orbital judging by the crowd.

I agree Hurrache - I've seen them live many times down through the years, they came across as a bit tired. Nicky Wire pulled out due a family illness, which may explain the sluggishness.

There was a No Disco docu on RTE 2XM on Thursday, anyone hear it?

The Belfast crowd seemed strangely detached from last night's concert, very little singing along or responding to the artists. At one stage Beck's guitarist did a fine rendition of the intro to Alternative Ulster, which was received with little more than polite applause with most of the punters. If you did something similar in Dublin it would bring the house down. Maybe the cheap tickets attracted people with no particular interest but who had nothing better to do on a nice Summer Friday night.

I think that was part of the reason for the Manics slight flatness (along with Nicky's absence and the others being concerned for him and his Mother). Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed the day. Nice venue, good weather and a fine line up.

Yeah, just listened back to it here https://www.rte.ie/radio/radioplayer/rteradiowebpage.html#!rii=b18_10882751_27538_24-05-2018_ (if that doesn't work try https://www.rte.ie/radio/radioplayer/rteradiowebpage.html# and search for No Disco)

Good programme, brought back lots of memories of staying up to watch the show before I has a video. I didn't realise it was run on such a tight budget at the time. They had to cancel interviews if the film crew were called out to do a news report or whatever. A real labour of love for all involved in the show.

Uaneen was the presenter I remember the most, she was terrific and it was an awful shock when she died in a car crash.

A few years ago my daughter#s friend arrived back from New york sporting a Ramones t-shirt. I proceeded to tell her about a gig i'd been recently at featuring Tommy Ramone and his wife doing bluegrass. She hadn't a clue who or what I was talking about

Back in day, me and my chums sang karaoke in a Chinese restaurant in Liverpool. We selected ‘The Power Of Love’ from the song book, assuming it to be the Huey Lewis And The News song (it didn’t say who the artists were).

Of course, it was the Jennifer Rush song.

    We sang it.

    All of it.

Ep 8/10 Ice-T, Rage Against the Machine, Kasabian, Beth Ditto, Henry Rollins and Public Enemy's Chuck D are among the artists offering their views on anger within music and how rage and rebellion helped shape the genre

That's more or less that - The Urban Myths show on Sky Arts and the related Doc is based on this infamous exchange on a daytime chat show where Bill Grundy wound up the Sex Pistols and goaded them into swearing. Which they did.

A few years ago Kevin Eldon did an identical re-shoot of that encounter, with the Sex Pistols as Amish people. I don't know why, but I quite like it. Possibly the Best Sex Pistols Amish Interview Recreation of the week, or any other week

Nice one, Skid. You can give us the real story of the Titanic slipways yokey, as it happens(ed).

I'm defo watching that new Music From Africa yoke. They don't do as much of these as they should, but when they do they tend to be well worth watching.
