Chris Issac tune does stand the test of time even if it was borrowed from the 1950's.

I dunno - it could be done acoustically and it would still be a good song.

    That Petrol Emotion.

No reason required, I just wanted to.

But Fab Vinny and many others sailed the ocean to avoid a big decision back home* ... and others felt obliged to leave because they wanted to marry one of 'themmuns'... my best friend was conceived on a late pullout and his unmarried-at-that-time parents had to move to Canada until his teens... this country was a seriously fúcked up place!

    * Mr Nile Rodgers yet again produced a relevant single :)

Watching this now. Mad stuff altogether, Ted.
    7pm & 12.30am Exotic Pop At The BBC (BBC4)
including Greek crooner Demis Roussos, French star Vanessa Paradis, Swedish singer Sylvia and Romanian pan-pipe player Gheorghe Zamfir

Nana Miskouri's backing band, The Athenians. Greece's answer to the Dubliners. Two tasty guitarists, to be fair.

    Hocus Pocus by Focus.

Another handy guitarist. Lovely old Gibson.

This is where punk rock started, 1973, New York Dolls. "Mock Rock" said the host.

Edit: I'm probably doing a vast disservice to Iggy and the Stooges.

    Thanks for that selection, HD.

A mate of mine is big into that stuff. Almost 60, born in London to Sligo parents Reluctantly living here and constantly reminiscing on how great Blighty is.

He refuses to do the internet. I'll send those videos to his wife. I think she can do youtube on the tv

Sounds horrific. I can only imagine;). the murder that will be committed on perfectly good songs.

Bad enough getting murdered without having your work murdered as well :( fúcking travesty. They wouldn't dare if he was still alive

Head's a bit tender this A.M. Mrs D unexpectedly got a call from the local quack yesterday - they had a leftover vaccine going if she could get there quick. I was feeling rather jealous, until a couple of hours later they rang me and I'm getting the Bill Gates mind control on Monday :pac: no we're not THAT old :p just medical conditions - not that serious but still more risk than the average Joe or Jane I suppose. Wasn't expecting to get done until June at least, and a late 2nd dose would've meant no chance of holidays before kids have to go back to school. 2nd doses are in four weeks :pac:

    Vaccine envy :pac:

But the important thing was that I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time.

Oh and the Lidl Belgian beer offer at the moment is excellent :o

Sort of fits this thread - Tower Records I found out yesterday is closed but this has been re-issued. Been on the look out for it for a while.

    Plastic Bertrand :)

So, turns out it wasn’t his voice on the track, it was the producer.

Nana Mouskouri - i always found her strangely sexy kinda like a teacher at school you might have had a secret crush but would never dare admit it publicly

and on the subject of guitars what's the one Elvis Costello used?

At the risk of dragging the thread off topic, not sure I understand the concept of “left over” vaccine.

Fender Jazzmaster as far as I know. Fender Jaguar is a similar shape but I don’t think it has the two double pickups.
