The piano started melting and I was wading up to my thighs in it by the chorus.

    - Julian Cope, on his 1981 appearance on TOTP performing with (The) Teardrop Explodes, after dropping a little acid

Why anyone would want to go on a national television station on acid I have no idea. Fair phucks though.

Bought a few albums yesterday the pick being Sons of Kemet. They played Glastonbury in 2019 and there is BBC4 footage but the album that came out two weeks ago seems to already be a classic. Cost me €32 - a price to pay for snooping around record shops.

Love the "world music" stage at Glasto.

Copey wasn't very happy in TTE at the time - nobody thought they'd bizarrely become teen idols - and his in-band nemesis Balfe was having an increasing influence on their musical direction.

The excerpts I've read from his autobiography are fascinating, I must read the whole thing.

This was very much meh. Weller doing his granny impression, the usual Noel Gallagher nonsense and a couple of decent tunes from Sleaford Mods.

Thanks, I'll give it a swerve!

It's razor sharp - got a good laugh out of that. These will be touring again when touring resumes.

Was hoping for a few shows for Dylans 80th birthday tomorrow. Plenty of stuff on the radio (RTE 1 and BBC 6 music) but only the 30th Anniversary concert on Sky Arts tomorrow night at 22:40.

11pm Arena: Bob Dylan – Trouble No More
(From 2018) In 1979, Bob Dylan released Slow Train Coming, an album of strictly devotional songs and declared he had found God in Christianity. For the following two years, accompanied by the finest musicians and gospel singers, he toured with a repertoire solely of songs expressing his new-found faith. A film was made of one of those performances, though never released. This showing is enhanced by a series of sermons between the songs, all specially written for the film and preached by Oscar-nominated actor Michael Shannon. The result is Bob Dylan's gospel service combining the 'then' of the gig with the 'now' of the message of The Preacher

From 1994, RTE tells us that home taping is killing music and that there are raids going on to stop it. There used to be a guy on O'Connell Bridge in Dublin who could get you nearly anything. IMRO will be pleased to know that home taping has been almost wiped out now
