Alright there Plenty, nice one hope you are well - I watched a few Beach Boys shows recently that's enough sunshine for me!

Yeah I remember that Roy Orbison one, it was excellent I think it was on BBC4 (and RTE1), hopefully it will get another airing soon

    [

Ha Ha & well done Skid. :D

Saw the Boys (or what's left of them but minus Brian Wilson) in the GC Theatre earlier this year- great show but felt a bit empty at the same time.

Sometimes it's better to stick to your record collection :)

    9.30pm Ceol an Chlann (TG4)
The story of rock band Mama's Boys, revealing how Pat, John and Tommy McManus,. the three brothers who make up the group, were inspired by their family's background in traditional music, but ultimately decided to switch to a harder sound

I think that's ep6 of 6. Raging I just got the last 10 mins of the Shannon family one while I was setting the recorder for Geantrai. They're bound to be repeated.

You can stream that one at the moment Joe, for another 32 days apparently. Press CC on the button for the subtitles if you need them.

There doesn't seem to be any other episodes up at the moment, but there are some other TG4 music shows

    Poor Su Pollard.

She never got to be a Maplin’s Yellowcoat, or have a number one single.

Chain Reaction there, one of only two Diana Ross songs which mention former Rugby League and It's a Knockout Commentator, Eddie Waring. The other being LoveChild by The Supremes

That Kerry McCarthy who provided the LoveChild revelation is a proper MP in the House of Commons, clearly wasting her talents.

Ah yeah, Shaun believes he has seen UFOs, so The History Channel gave him money to make a series about them. Mad times.

It's his co-commentator who was up to no good though

Profile of the influential and inventive singer-songwriter, whose work encompasses a mixture of musical styles, from blues to Weimar cabaret. The programme incorporates rare archive recordings and interviews, and features contributions from Terry Gilliam, Ian Rankin and Ute Lemper
The full show was deleted from Youtube, but here's a clip featured in the Doc taken from the Late Late Show. Gay Byrne interviews Tom's wife and is straight in with the usual question "How Irish are you?"
FFS, why didn't I click into this thread last night.

The Best Queen Song Used As A Film Theme That They Are Now Murdering By Using In An Advert For Toilet Cleaner Of The Week might be Flash in Flash Gordon (Film4, Thursday Night 12.45am). You would think Queen have enough money by now without flogging bleach, that musical must make millions alone.

Ah that's sad news. That performance in The Blues Brothers is unreal. Apparently the film studio wanted whoever sang 'Car Wash' to do that scene but Dan and John persuaded them of their folly.

BBC News Channel just played this in full (which is what Rolling News stations should be doing more of), I love the reaction of Carole King in the audience. RIP Aretha

Sky Arts showing some Aretha programming tonight, its whatever they have on standby - hopefully someone will do a proper tribute show in due course

Sadly this is one of those instances you'd expect the BBC etc to have a tribute show in the can really. Wonder if there'll be some schedule changes over the weekend.

Very moving. Remember the days when we could feel some empathy with the US President?

Carole King wasn't just 'in the audience'.
Aretha Franklin performed at the 2015 Kennedy Center Honors this year, paying tribute to Carole King, who helped co-write the song she performed "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman." The Kennedy Center Honors took place on December 6th in Washington, D.C., and just aired on TV last night, hence the circulation of this footage.

30 minute tribute show for Aretha Franklin on BBC1 tomorrow (Saturday)

    9.30pm Aretha Franklin - Respect
Tom Jones, Beverley Knight, Clarke Peters and Trevor Nelson are among those offering their respects to the Queen of Soul, who died on Thursday. Aretha was raised in Detroit where her father preached, and grew up singing gospel. Her career ignited when she signed to Atlantic in 1967 and global hits such as I Say a Little Prayer and Respect quickly established her in the soul genre, while her delivery and regal presence made her an iconic figure in the emerging Civil Rights movement. She renewed success in the 1980s when collaborating with Luther Vandross, cameoing in The Blues Brothers and then duetting with the likes of Annie Lennox and George Michael
