I would never have thought to check out Van Morrison live at Montreux without this thread.
Just had a listen on TG4 player and it's just wonderful. What a performance.

3.05am Rock and Roll - Pain (Sky Arts)

... and that's more or less that. I'd still like to know who decided that the first two episodes of a series called Rock and Roll should be about Death and Pain.

Anyway, I'm away for a few days next week so the listings might appear early. Or not at all. Or truncated. Not really sure at time of writing.

As always if you have seen anything else do let us know

Meanwhile, the BBC launched a new standalone channel called BBC Scotland this week. The very first thing to appear on it was this rather nice synth orchestral thing by Chvrches with a full orchestra.

It might even be the best synth orchestral launch of a new channel of the week.

That has probably blown most of their budget but it is a lot better than when RTE started. People in formal dress standing for the National Anthem like it was pre War BBC or something. They were very proud that most of their programming was to be BBC Repeats, a policy BBC4 would embrace many years later ...

Hello, yes for one week only here are your listings on a Monday, normal service should be resumed next week hopefully.

This week sees that controversial two part Michael Jackson doc airing on Channel 4. Through interviews with Safechuck and Robson, now in their 30s and 40s, as well as their mothers, wives and siblings, director Dan Reed's film presents a portrait of sustained abuse, and explores the complicated feelings that led both men to confront their experiences. Maybe Television needs to look at reviving some old formats. For example, the Best Interview of Transvision Vamp Singer Wendy James While She Is Almost Drowning In The River Thames You Will See This Week might be this one.
