The new Gary Glitter, and we can't honestly say we didn't know what he was up to at the time.

The Roman Catholic Church is beyond despicable, it laughs at us as we pay for its crimes. It cares not a jot for the lives it has ruined.

Episode 7 of ‘Rip It Up:Unwrapped’ on BBC Scotland right now.

Interesting to see how the Scottish viewed Britpop as more English Pop and London-centric.

Sonic Youth forever, Menswear never! :D

And finally, in One of many things you might have missed out on by not having access to the BBC Scotland Series Rip It Up UnWrapped comes the revelation that Nirvana once recorded a song which was a tribute to Hazel The McWitch from classic 1980s Children's BBC Series Rentaghost

Following the release of their breakthrough album Nevermind, the Seattle trio released a compilation of sessions and cover versions: Incesticide.

One of that album’s tracks was Molly’s Lips, originally by Scottish indie band The Vaselines ...

But what he may not have known at the time is that The Vaselines composed Molly’s Lips as an ode to Scottish actress Mollie Weir, perhaps best known for her role as Hazel the McWitch in 80s children’s TV show Rentaghost.

No problem at all getting BBC Scotland anywhere in Ireland (or Britain) - any Sky, Freesat or free-to-air satellite dish will get it

It's proved very handy this week avoiding recording clashes on the snooker :)

Didn't get in on the ground floor on that "unwrapped" series though, so I have it on EPG search and it'll hopefully turn up on BBC4 before too long.

True Faith is a great song, I hated it at the time though because of the wanky annoying braindead video, seeing New Order live on TOTP (with subtitles on  ) is a very different experience

The Roman Catholic Church is beyond despicable, it laughs at us as we pay for its crimes. It cares not a jot for the lives it has ruined.

... yes, I can't think of anyone better to guide us towards Ireland's Favourite Folk Song than someone called Temper-Mental Misselayneous. Word. Also, that Two Lukes thing about Luke Kelly and his multitude of statues is indeed on the RTE Player

Continuing the Blues theme, Netflix released a new one this week 'Devil At The Crossroads' about Robert Johnson, him who apparently sold his soul to the devil in exchange for demonic guitar playing skills.

There are quite a few of those Netflix Remastered shows now, details here https://media.netflix.com/en/press-releases/the-music-you-know-the-stories-you-dont-remastered-launches-globally-on-netflix-october-12

And finally, the Best Echo And The Bunnymen Cover Of A Doors Song In An 80s Brat Pack Film on Television of the weekend might be this, from The Lost Boys (Comedy Central, Saturday 9pm)

Cripsy hell, there's about a milliom things there I want to watch. All that blues stuff, gonna be amazing (although am I right in saying the shows the repeat in the same night - in this case John Lee Hooker (YES!), did they used to run the repeat earlier? 1.55 am is a small bit late.

Anyway, I'm even interested in the best folk somg yoke. I expect we'll get a reminder interview on the Late Late.

I saw the ad for that Robert Johnson yoke on Netflix the other day. It looks, frankly, ludicrous. Like it's focussing on what's a bit of a folk legend thing, which of course has no basis in fact. But he's considered (by some) to be the absolute main man in blues. Shouldn't that be the focus?

I had an unhealthy obsession with The Lost Boys from when I first watched it when in school. The soundtrack played a massive part in that.

Same, i listened to it again a few weeks ago it still sounds great. I must revisit the movie soon, it's probably not aged well though

I half watched it late one night when it was on when I came home from the pub. I think it stil stands the test of time, it has great actors but maybe a lot of it is nostalgia.

'In the Air Tonight' off Face Value by Phil Collins is a fine fine tune.
