Following the success of last year’s documentary After The Screaming Stops, a new BBC Four takeover called A Night In With Bros was announced on Wednesday and will see the brothers curate an evening of entertainment on the channel for one night in July.

Here’s hoping Matt and Luke reminisce about the time they were supported at Wembley by...Frank Sidebottom :D

Frank was asked to support the boy band Bros at Wembley. There were 50,000 people in the crowd. This was a huge stage for Frank – his biggest ever, by about 49,500 people. It was his chance to break through to the mainstream. But instead he chose to perform a series of terrible Bros cover versions for five minutes and was bottled off. The show's promoter, Harvey Goldsmith, was glaring at him from the wings. Frank sauntered over to him and said, "I'm thinking of putting on a gig at the Timperley Labour Club. Do you have any tips?"

Should you be reading this on Wednesday before 9pm then you can catch The Blues Brothers on ITV4 again. Sure why not?

I saw this linked on the RTE site this week, a selection of old RTE videos featuring Rory Gallagher

    https://www.rte.ie/archives/profiles/gallagher-rory/

Includes a video about a 2006 National Museum of Ireland exhibition of 75 years of The Electric Guitar.

Finally, the 1982 Epic Gandhi is on RTE1 this weekend (Saturday 1.15pm) It did alright, won 8 Oscars and lots of other awards but it surely would have been much better if Dickie Attenborough had not bizarrely overlooked Stanley Rogers' epic version of the theme tune. Not the only time it happened to Stanley in his career, of course.

    Blues Bros on ITV4 now.

And there was an ad with that '74-'75 song (The Connells?) that I seem to remember was on in between every other two songs on MTV for a while in the late 90s.

Can you guess what the ad was for?

You could make a whole film about the filming of ‘The Blues Brothers’ itself - John Belushi going AWOL during the destruction of the shopping mall scene (found asleep in a random house in a nearby neighbourhood - after fixing himself a sandwich), getting in a punch-up with John Landis in his trailer after his coke dealer failed to show up, having to get special permission for a helicopter to drop the Nazi car over Chicago docks...the list goes on.

Orange whip? Orange whip? Three orange whips!

Great job, as usual, with the Wedensday list, Skid
Not sure about the BBC4 10pm and 11pm items for tonight (which I was thinking of having a look at) - listings on BBC and entertainment.ie seem to show "BBC Cardiff Singer of the World 2019" from 10-12 (maybe WMM hacked the Beeb :pac:)

Ah, that's a pity. Looks like a schedule change. Or an error in the site I use.

    Or maybe I dreamt it.

Someone has a Youtube playlist of Punk Britannia at the BBC here

If Fairytale Of New York had started off with 'I Know You're Going To Dig This', it might have added enough sales to get the Christmas Number One.

Edit: I know that's easy to say in hindsight.
