    I'm in Ronan Collins mode.

It'ds the 23rd of June and it's mentioned in two songs.

Paddy Rolling Stone by Shane and the popes.
It was on the 23rd of June
As I lay blasted in my room
A small bird sang on an ivy branch
And the song they sang was the "Jug of Punch" I'll be drinking whiskey in a ditch
With Scruffy, and Brick and Noel
Now I've gone and lost my gear
And I'm looking for my hole

    We are Tex's riders
And we come from Nenagh town
One of these nights, durin' one of those fights
Gonna burn the whole place down "

    /QUOTE]
t being the 23rd June the day before the fair
When lreland’s sons and daughters in crowds assembled there

I enjoyed that chat. Kudos to O'Leary too. Relaxed sort of a fella and the right man for the job.

It was good - Noel always brutally honest and entertaining to listen to.

‘Be Here Now’ is good...if you edit each song down by five minutes :D

Noel said absolutely no DJ in their right mind plays ‘Roll With It’ anymore.

Take a guess which song Ryan Tubridy is playing right now on Radio One :pac: :D

    Hello,

Yes, Glastonbury weekend coming on the BBC and beyond

There are some acts up there you have heard of, and plenty you haven't.

Plenty of coverage on BBC Television, the best of all is on the Red Button and the Website if you can twiddle the knobs and get them working.

Also BBC Radio 1, Radio 2 and 6Music have plenty of coverage

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/events/er3v9r

    As does BBC Sounds

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/1SP2x2Q1wSPp6PkSvZwrKb2/listen-to-4-days-of-non-stop-glastonbury-sounds-with-bbc-radio-glastonbury

The Website is showing tracks from previous years which can be watched in Ireland, for example here is Chic featuring a Mr N Rodgers from 2017 https://www.bbc.co.uk/events/ec584f/play/acwfbp/p0578vl6

And here is the Television schedule, subject to change and quite likely to be filled with filler about how worthy everyone at Worthy farm is ...

    Thursday
11.15pm BBC2 Glastonbury Greatest Headliners – compilation from previous years. This was also on last Saturday

    Friday
1.30pm-12.15am BBC Iplayer – Multiple streams (not easily viewable in Ireland)
    5pm -6am BBC Red Button - Highlights
7pm-7.30pm BBC1 The One Show – Live from Worthy Farm

6am-1.30pm BBC Red Button – Highlights
3.30pm-5.15pm BBC2 Highlights of Anne Marie, Hozier, Lewis Capaldi and James Morrison
4pm-5.15pm BBC Red Button – Highlights
7pm-8pm BBC4 Carrie Underwood, Johnny Marr
7.30pm-6am BBC Red Button - Highlights
    7.30pm-9pm BBC2 Janet Jackson

8pm-9pm BBC4 Billie Eilish, The Good The Bad and The Queen.
9pm-12.30am BBC2 The Cure (Headline). Also Billie Eilish, The Streets and Rex Orange County
9pm-10pm BBC4 Vampire Weekend, Kamasi Washington
10pm-12.30am BBC4 Janelle Monae, Christine & The Queens

Jeff Goldblum? Well, that's what it says here

There is also a long running thread for Glasto 2019 in the Gigs and Events Forum https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057831526

and that's about it for Glasto, hope you remember to tape the things you like

No coverage of Hawkwind from the acoustic stage though :pac:

-Nice to see Kamasi Washington getting a pretty high profile slot, contemporary jazz with some electro. He's the current star of the genre really.
-Tame Impala are fairly decent...a late 2000's to present era Aussie psychedelic rock band that are leaning more to the pop sound these days (playing The Point tmw actually).
-I heard really good reports about The Cure at Malahide and they should go down really well as headliners.
-Mavis Staples, Neneh Cherry, Chemical Bros will all be getting a view.

Not sure if any of these are covered by the red button but White Fat Family, Kurt Vile, Santigold, Fontaines DC (playing three different stages I think) among others will be on my radar if I find myself in a red button equipped household or an honorary BBC license fee payer over the weekend.

And that's just the main poster. Definitely not jealous of those going at all.

Don’t know if you can get Channel 5 in Ireland, but an Oasis documentary has just started then here now was there then - ‘Liam Vs. Noel - Brothers At War’.

    Alan McGee, present and correct.

    Eh, hello, Stormzy??????

Glastonbury has been slowly but surely leaving its real roots and purpose behind over the last few years. The likes of Stormzy (WITH ONE F**KING ALBUM!!), Ed Sheeran, Beyonce, Jay Z headlining has led to festival down to the most money grabbing commercial path possible and now it's very hard to see any real difference between it and any other festival. It's living on its past reputation and name.

Ok, that might be a little harsh, but you can see where I'm going with my point.....I hope.... :D

For sure. It’s a symptom of how the whole music industry has gone. The likes of Ed Sheehan lauded as genius.

And 1 album wonders made out to be absolute legends

Having said that..these guys Idles i'm currently watching do rock it old-style quite a bit. Just no nonsense guitar stuff, thats kinda how i like it.
