    Breaking news!

There has been absolute carnage in the streets around Westminster!

Thousands upon thousands of people demanding answers!

    Protesters clashing with police!

All wanting to know the burning question...

Just why WAS Steve Wright wearing blue rubber washing-up gloves on TOTP?

    Hothouse Flowers!

    Haven't seen this episode yet.

HHF were at Forever Young and were OK, but in typical LO'M fashion he finished up with a 15-20 minute cover of Purple Rain which was ten minutes too long :p

Heard of him hogging the **** out of the stage at benefit gigs too

The Dublin Airport cap is damaging the economy of Ireland as a whole, and must be scrapped forthwith.

That's the one with the Billy Ocean song and Danny Devito and Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner.
The band in the book and film High Fidelity were once known as Kathleen Turner Overdrive, which is a good name for a band.

    You're correct, sorry.

That programme was on Channel 4 originally, odd to see it sold to Sky now.

Following on from Julian Temple's new documentary that was mentioned earlier in the thread, it looks like there's also a film in the works about Shane MacGowan:

Hello there, decent enough line up coming up this weekend I think, some decent stuff spread across the channels. That Prom mullarky comes to an end on Saturday so that should free up airtime for proper music from now on. Deep Purple and The Pet Shop Boys and Bachman from Bachman Turner Overdrive are the new-ish shows but here are the details ...

    Thursday
3pm Sinatra – The Man And His Music (Sky Arts)
    1981 TV Special

4pm Soundtracks – Songs That Defined History (Sky Arts)
    The 9/11 Episode

11pm The Cavern Club – The Beat Goes On (Sky Arts)
    This was on last weekend

Profile of the influential and inventive singer-songwriter, whose work encompasses a mixture of musical styles, from blues to Weimar cabaret. The programme incorporates rare archive recordings and interviews, and features contributions from Terry Gilliam, Ian Rankin and Ute Lemper
This is not on Youtube but if you search for it in google under videos you should find it

    American doc

1.30am John Lennon – Imagine (Sky Arts)
Unique footage of the recording of the classic 1971 album, filmed in England, and the subsequent promotional tour to the USA and Japan

    9.10pm & 1.30pm Showbands – How Ireland Learned To Party (BBC4)
Another chance to see this. The showband was a uniquely Irish phenomenon. It was a movement that saw thousands of young people travel up and down the country in the late '50s, '60s and early '70s to the 'Dancehalls of Romance' to be entertained by the Royal Showband, the Miami Showband and Big Tom and the Mainliners, and individuals including Dickie Rock, Joe Dolan and Brendan Bowyer. Ardal O'Hanlon looks back at the phenomenon, examining what triggered the infamous era, the people involved, and its eventual end in the 1980s

That isn’t on Youtube but here is a 1988 doc which treads similar ground ‘Good Night, Safe Home and God Bless’

Pavel Rosu comments “Toti acesti artisti sunt minunati! The Drifters si Joe Dolan sunt favoritii mei! Joe Dolan a ridicat maiestria artistica la cel mai inalt nivel! Nu cred ca publicul, de oriunde ar fi el si din orice timpuri, ar putea cere mai mult decat a oferit artistic Joe Dolan!” which is easy for him to say

Katie Derham examines the story behind Antonio Carlos Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes's song The Girl from Ipanema

1.45am Eric Clapton – Live In California 2001 (Sky Arts)

3am Masters Of The Guitar (Sky Arts)
Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi and Wilko Johnson are among those discussing their ultimate guitar heroes. This should be on earlier

The BBC Concert up there with "all your favourite Radio 2 DJs" reminded me of the time 2FM sent their DJs on to The Late Late Show to sort out the Rape problems. With Rap

    Rape is wrong, kids.

Anyway, the Best Use Of The Theme From Jaws Of The Week might be in the Opening Titles of Airplane! (Comedy Central, Saturday 11pm)

Also, Airplane II The Sequel is on the same channel on Monday at 11pm.
MacArthur Park might not have been the best choice for the Elevator music

This is a new version from the original, folks, with updated stories and photos inside to match. Really excited to share it all with you. Big thanks to my brother Steve Lukather for providing such a kind quote for the front cover, and to Jack Smyth for the very cool design, and Anders for the cover photo!

It’s available to pre-order now from Amazon, Waterstones, and all good bookshops. Head to the link in my bio to do so. Enough pre-orders might even get me in the bestsellers list!
