Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A lot of noise there from Tony.

We know how the club operates but its clear to say that Tony isnt happy with the process.

I wonder how many players came in over his head, I reckon at least 4 since hes been at Chelsea.

I'd love to see Barkley start tomorrow but its very unlikely.

If he is used from the bench I hope hes given a good solid 20mins.

With Pedro out, Musonda might get PL minutes too.

When we played them at the Bridge on St. Stephens Day, we didnt get going until the second half but it was comfortable enough game.

    Do you like Charlie Austin?

He could be an alternative to Dzeko. :o

Only tall strikers we are looking for. It's a pity as Robbie Keane be a good get.
Bit depressing hearing the names of the strikers linked with. Only seem to be a stop gap but still not good.

Took me a week to figure out there is no post in Chelsea thread, because there is a new one.

    I deserve a proper slap.

Makes me sick that we are still looking for very thin looking temporary solutions.

Current champions looking for benchwarmers instead of proper strikers.

Whoever is making those decisions - GET A FCUKING GRIP !

    Cmon CHELSEA !

Good start. The suspensions and injuries seem to have forced us back to 3-4-3 which is no harm.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,683 ✭✭✭LightningBlue

We've exploded out the blocks today. 2-0 Willian.

Great link-up play by Hazard and Batshuayi in the build up. Brighton all over the shop.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Only a few more goals and we're 2nd. :pac:

Willian’s goal was something else! Ye won’t be drawing this one anyways!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,683 ✭✭✭LightningBlue

Caballero very lucky not to give away a penalty. Don't know why he stuck a leg out there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,683 ✭✭✭LightningBlue

    Caballero's had a very shaky 10-15 mins.
Should have given away a pen, nearly punched a cross into his own net and sliced a clearance short.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,683 ✭✭✭LightningBlue

Attack looks much better with both Hazard and Willian linking up and the additional counter-attacking pace.

The 3-5-2 leaves Hazard and Morata far too isolated.

Willian and Hazard are running riot , great playing together.

For 352 you need wing backs who can play as wingers. We don't get that with Alonso unfortunately.

Great reaction save by Caballero but how the fcuk are there two free Brighton players at the far post.

    Unbelievable stop from Caballero.

True his crossing isn't the best, but Alonso's best asset is his attacking play. He's managed to pick up 5-6 goals from the position 2 years running.
I'd be more disappointed with the RWB and CM situation in the 3-5-2.

Moses and Zappacosta have been far worse in terms of productivity and Fabregas and Bakayoko don't provide enough goal threat, are too ponderous on the ball and don't make the right runs into the box when the ball goes out to the wing.

Maybe Barkley could offer something different.

Ye are far better set up this way than the 3-5-2.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,683 ✭✭✭LightningBlue

My god, John Moss is an abysmal referee.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,683 ✭✭✭LightningBlue

Link up play with Hazard, Batshuayi and Willian has been superb so far.

Really should be 3 or 4 goals to the good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Barr

Big improvement from Michy. I reckon if he didn't show up today it was the last we would be seeing of him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,079 ✭✭✭✭Tom Mann Centuria

Bakayoko playing well today. He's finally finding his feet (possibly).

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

If we sign Crouch, We riot. :pac:

Bad looking head collision for Christensen. Up on his feet now but looks fairly dazed.

Alonso is a shambolic defender. Schelotto made an absolute mug of him there.
No wonder Conte wants a left-back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Barr

Brighton don't look out of this yet.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,683 ✭✭✭LightningBlue

Willian very unlucky from a free-kick. Ryan tipped onto the post.

Looks like Barkley will get at least 25-30 mins to impress.

Chelsea just needing the goal to kill it.

United fan myself but have to say that Barkley signing I feel will be a superb one.

    Great potential

Yeah, I'm not doubting his attacking contribution. Just that, he doesn't provide any width, can't beat a man etc. It's important in that formation to be able to stretch teams or you end up too narrow. RWB can definitely be upgraded too.

With 3-5-2 you do need more goals from midfield too, which we also struggle with.

    Yeah no arguments there.
We spent all summer on the Alex Sandro nonsense instead of moving onto other targets.

    Hopefully:
    1) the Emerson deal goes ahead and
    2) He is a player Conte actually wants.

    Alonso woeful again there.

Every Brighton attack and cross is coming from around our LB/LWB area.

Zappacosta on for Alonso is no surprise.

    That was class from Hazard

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,683 ✭✭✭LightningBlue

Superbly cheeky finish by Hazard. 3-0

    Great through ball by Willian.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Barr

A Michy goal would be the icing on the cake.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,683 ✭✭✭LightningBlue

Good to see Charly get a few minutes.
Christense's injury probably stopped Barkley getting on for his debut.

4-0 Moses. Great run to get on Musonda's floated through-ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Barr

Great to see this score line after the recent run.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Barr

Much improved today .. Willian's goal was a brilliant team goal.

Don't think Brighton will be going 3 at the back again any time soon :pac:

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,683 ✭✭✭LightningBlue

    Great performance today.
There's an argument for keeping mostly the same 11 for Arsenal midweek as our attacking buildup play was the best its been in months.
Willian has been in excellent form in recent weeks and needs to start.

Looking forward to the Arsenal game next - Merson predicting they'll lose at home today.

Seen the last 10/15mins and a bit of the highlights, Hazard was class.

The 343 suits the team much better but we have to take stock of the opposition too.

Main thing was winning by a few and a clean sheet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,269 ✭✭✭Tubbs4

Give bats a run out for the cup game again. Hopefully he can start to get used to the team and maybe score.
Alonso needs a rest so maybe Kennedy can play.

Always have to take into the account the quality of the opposition though. Still, ye found goals. That was an er welcome change. :)

I would think kenedy would do a great job on the left of the front three. He seems to have a bit of Brazilian flair but there is obviously an issue keeping him out of the team, given his man of the match performance during the week was expecting to see him get some game time.
Hazard back to being world class today hope he can continue that form into the week.
