Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Brilliant from Sane.

Gomez's error, but can we not just buy a keeper that will make a save to bail us out?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,046 ✭✭✭Berserker

Where did that come from? Liverpool couldn't really have played much better this half and they are level at the end of it. Defensive woes are still there for all to see.

Gomez awful for the goal too

A basic save, any out field player playing in goal saves that.

Mane is pissing me off the way he's delaying everything. Pass it!!

Can seems to have lost another yard of pace, physically and mentally (and he didn't have it to lose)

Gary Neville talking about a Double Fisting there......ooooh Matron!!

To be fair it was a great shot.... keeper shouldn't be beaten at near post like that of course but the shot was top drawer.

Gomez caught out there and not for first time. If Moreno made the last few errors Gomez made causing goals we'd be calling blue murder.

Oh show some composure Wijnaldum ffs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,689 ✭✭✭bur

    Mignolet would have saved that....

    thought no-one ever.

Not even an attempt to save it, I think his hands were fists? And ball veered into goal, like WTF. Was not even in his mind to save it, he was hoping ball would hit fists.

Wij is so bad going forward for a lad who started as a ten

Wijnaldum pulled out of that challenge right at the end of the half too

Best two teams in the league

Klopp got it wrong playing Karius
'' if he can play in goal he'll stay in goal''
So he won't be staying in goal then.......

Great game so far. Definitely one goalkeeping mistake, possibly 2. Think Liverpool will win this though, City look off the pace.

He's 20 and 2nd or 3rd choice RB playing out of his preferred position against the team of superstars that's topping the table with aplomb. Cut him some slack, he'll make a few mistakes and learn from them. Unlike Karius (and apparently klopp who won't buy us a keeper)!

Ederson's looked more unsure than usual as well.

Robertson impressed me that half. I thought most of Liverpool's defending was very good but Gomez was caught out badly and Karius needed to stop that shot.

But he isn't learning from them

The bits you expect him to be good at he's fluffing

Soul destroying for the front 6 to kill themselves like that only for a pair of useless ****en userless keepers to let them down time after time.

Matip and gomez where equally at fault as much as karius.

Our passing has been atrocious. I'd imagine Pep will be going ballistic at them in the dressing room.

For sure. No real mention of Matip but id have him more to blame than Gomez to be honest, no effort made at all.

City off the pace are drawing. That's not too hopeful from a Liverpool point of view. City will score at least once more. It remains to be seen if Liverpool can score again too.

    He is doing ok

But just something not right with Mane -

    Pace
    Injury
    Fitness

When he turned up he was fast, winning ball all over the park and could take anyone on.

    He slows everything down now.

We should be well up here - but we are use to first 1/2s like that.

Largely due to the tactics from Liverpool I think, serious pressure all over the pitch, can't see Liverpool being able to keep that up

Excellent banter from Sky having Given as a pundit knowing one of Liverpool’s “goalkeepers” will have a clanger.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,465 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Some early Karius footage, fails to use his hands there too .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,399 ✭✭✭✭ThunbergsAreGo

    That's generally how goalkeeping works

Doesn't make it a worse mistake

Gomez can't deal with balls over his head. Fourth goal this season similar has happened.

    Karius is Karius

Peter Schmichel is on the panel on SNWL and gave a very good assessment of the City goal.

Said it was a very good strike by Sane but Karius should save it. Basically said that Karius should be an extra few steps to the right because

    1. Sane is left footed and going to shoot near post.
    2. Karius gets a slight hand to it but because he is to far left he can only push the ball into the goal (even if he gets a stronger hand to it)

If he puts a foot in and gives away a penalty so be it but he didn't even try to make a challenge

Klopp has an effect at half time, he always did. Can see us moving forward, it's a 45 minute shoot out and we're at home.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,465 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

City so high here at start, playing right into our hands when we get it .

The absolute irony of those idiots booing Sterling while simultaneously being delighted with Van Dijk.

Some of them, yeah. But there were a few went astray under very little pressure. We need to up our performance level in this half.

Sterling left a big club for a club that offered him lots of money, it was all greed.

VVD turned down City, Chelsea and walked away from that money to play for Liverpool
