Windows Surface won't start after update

    Hi, I have a Windows Surface runnng RT - I updated it today and it won't turn on afterwards. When it restarted after update, the screen is black and every so often, the battery level and ENG show like they would in normal startup and if I run my finger across screen, it's tracked and the Windows working symbol and pointer appears but nothing else. Should the update be taking this long? The Windows button is also working. Shouldn't I see the green screen showing % progress?? Any advice/suggestions?? Thanks in advance.
