I thought the movie INCEPTION was awful.

I couldnt figure out what the f**k was going on.

Terminator Genisys. What was the point of it? It was only going back over old storylines that we had already learned about from the first 2 films.

Couldn't disagree more, fantastic film, excellent book too. Probably one of the scariest "bad guy" characters I can remember too.

Bardem was great, i'll give you that - but the film itself just crawled along fairly drudgingly. I found it hard work I have to say, a waste of a perfectly good 2 hours!

Stop that now. Inception was a fantastic movie.
I love Nolan’s films except for Dunkirk which was awful ****e. I refuse to believe he had anything to actually do with it and interstellar. Those 2 are by far his worst by a huge margin.

I suppose it just didn't click with you. Personally I found it fascinating and I was completely pulled in. The standard of acting was really high and I really liked Josh Brolin and Tommy Lee Jones in it (although Bardem just about stole the show).

Birdman is alright. A bit of a thespian wankfest as mentioned but had an interesting gimmick and solid performances.

I just think that any film which isn't an obvious classic which then sweeps up awards is destined to be shat on forever unfortunately.

If this is about No Country then for me that's one of the best releases of the past decade and one example of the academy getting it right for once.

Melancholia - woman is depressed because the world is going to get destroyed. The end.

    LOVE that film!!

Aw but that's my favourite film... :(

I need to make a contribution now..

    Justice League.

CTRL+C "Avengers" + Find and replace 'Marvel' with 'DC' + CTRL+V

Elizabethtown, still remains the most pointless film I've ever seen. Up there with one of the worst films I've ever seen.
Orlando Bloom makes a pair of trainers that make his company go bust (the company must have been goosed if that was the straw that broke the camel's back).

    Insert Scene
    Insert Scene

Kirsten Dunst hides something for him in one of the MILLIONS of trainers produced

    Insert Scene
    Insert Scene

He finds it in the next town he goes to

    Insert Scene

Her brother plays Freebird at some sort of event for some reason, this lasts about 18 mins

    Insert Scene

Blooms gets some sort of payback on his company, can't remember how.

    Film ends.

War for the planet of the apes was the worst film I've seen in quite some time.

    - No war
    - Predictable
    - Major plotholes

It was really terrible, it even had a jar jar binks monkey that was probably the best thing about the movie. Besides the opening scene and the beautiful scenery, this was awful!

Double Jeopardy is a film that has always annoyed me. Not that it's pointless, just that the premise of the film is bull****

whilst its true you cant be tried for the same crime twice in the US, its not the same crime just because the victim is the same person!

Gone girl, unbelievably huge gaping plot holes. The amount of people that I respect who raved about the film, I just couldn't believe how they were fooled. I was genuinely annoyed at the end of that film, how could a film (the book must have the same plot holes) blatantly treat it's audience as unintelligent fools and still earn adoration from seemingly intelligent people?

Gone girl didnt treat its audience like fools, I found it to a well written excellent film. It had a wonderful air of mystery as to what happened to his wife and it was intriguing to see how it would end and Rosemund Pike was excellent, A very interesting film

Heard good things about Blade Runner 2049. Sat down and watched it the other weekend. Absolutely awful. So thoroughly bored for the entirety of it all.

Best part was hearing a Dean Martin song being played.

Mad Max 2015 - Best action movie ever. I don't like pure action movies because they are usually ****e but Max Max is how it's done.

Birdman and Whiplash both awesome. **** y'all and your wrong opinions.

Did the same last weekend, I thought it was alright, like a 6/10 movie but it's definitely not the best movie ever that critics were raving about.

Ignoring idiots who comment "far right" because they don't even know what it means

The going over the T1 part was good but the 2nd half was nonsensical gibberish, one of the many things that was great about the first 2 films was they didn't overexplain things, this film was full of jargon, the writer should of been shot

Taken. Liam Neeson spent the entire first film trying to rescue his daughter. In the second film she was able to rescue him by running across rooftops and setting off grenades like an expert. If it was that easy to teach her what he had learned in the CIA why didn't he just spend five minutes training her how to get out of dangerous situations when she was younger?

Jaysus, you'll have to narrow that down a bit more for me, could be any of them!

Although she did then go on and get super hot and hook up with St. Vincent for a while, so all's forgiven I suppose:D

I did like Lord of the Rings but there's a funny scene in Clerks 2 where they're arguing about which one is the better trilogy, Star Wars or Lord of the Rings and the character Randal says "Those ****in' hobbit movies were boring as hell. All it was, was a bunch of people walking, three movies of people walking to a ****ing volcano." and "even the ****ing trees walked in those movies" :D

No I didn't and the 3 reviews I read before I watched the film didn't mention any plot holes as there are none, yes some doctors/police should of realised some things but they didn't, these things can happen in real life and a fictional story.

But what about flying there at night?

  • Registered Users Posts: 882 ✭✭✭one armed dwarf

The whole thing with the eagles if I recall is that they're basically like demi-gods themselves who aren't beholden to the hobbits and elves and whatever Gandalf is.

At least that's what I remember hearing but it is awful weird how Gandalf is still able to just like whistle to a moth on top of the tower in Fellowship or do the same when faced with a similar situation in The Hobbit.

The nazgul might have eaten them maybe.

    Wanted is pure muck.

    You hush your whore mouth.

    :pac:

Wanted was fantastically braindead schlocky action and was brilliant for it.

It also had a surprisingly decent video-game tie-in.

One thing that's frustrating about this thread is that a film isn't really pointless just because it doesn't have much of a 'plot'. Flims aren't always just about the rudimentaries of 'plotting'.

Some films have plots which are about revealing its characters than just progressing the 'story'.

eg, that new film by the guy who directed In Bruges kind of falls into that category.

The entire plot to Ocean's 12 is completely pointless.

Season 2 of Twin Peaks, the stretch of episodes after you find out who murdered Laura Palmer. So much bum all at once like.

That last episode of season 2 might be the greatest hour of telly a lad can watch though.

Most Police Academy and all Karate Kid sequels are pretty pointless and add nothing new. Jaws: The Revenge is also pretty pointless and ruined a great original. Metalstorm: the Destruction of Jared Syn: watch Mad Max 2 and the original Star Wars trilogy (which this is a weird and unsuccessful combination of) instead.

Any of the Jaws sequels. Terrible acting and scripts. zero storyline. The one with Michael Caine was the absolute pits.

Have to agree. The original is a great film from a great director at the peak of his talents. The sequels are by third rate directors and offer nothing akin to the original's thriller qualities.

Agree. The obsession some people have with dirt is unbelievable and they are not interested in stories or commentary.

Relating to this, those 50 Shades sequels are pointless. Did not think much of the original either. Definitely 3 of the worst films ever made.

Michael Caine on Jaws the Roaring shark/Jaws the Revenge

Ah now. Jaws 2 is pretty underratted. Sure it doesn't have the magic of the original, but it's great.

    Jaws 3 / 3D, and revenge are ****e though.
