Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I saw the latest Family Guy yesterday and Jesus, it was awful. As in, literally painful to watch. It was about Stewie losing his Teddy or something and he had to scatter his ashes, absolute unfunny rubbish, I remember when it used to be side splittingly funny.

    Has it had its day?

Of course it has. It started over 18 years ago.

Its similar to The Simpsons in the sense it was very good but it has declined as time has gone on and has become absolutely tedious these shows have a shelf life and The Simpsons and Family Guy have both passed theirs they should both be put out of their misery their heydays are long gone.

Watch an episode of The Orville and it should give you some insight into why Family Guy is not what it used to be.

Or try a million ways to die in the west or whatever that pile of garbage was called.

Seth McFarlane seems to have crawled a little too far up his own ar*e - which is a pity, but often inevitable I find.

Family guy was it's best in the mid to late 2000s when watching them on DVD was the preferred way to watch it, and also on FX/BBC3. I don't watch it anymore apart from sporadically if a new episode comes on and there's nothing better to watch.

It's in it's 16th season it seems. I think season 11/12 is when I stopped "following" it. I think at some point you outgrow the sort of humour of the show, and the fact that it has become viciously cynical in the last few seasons as opposed to just moderately cynical as it used to be has kind of turned me off it. Then again I don't "follow" South Park since about as long ago so I suppose it's partly just me getting older.

Also, Quagmire's charachter has bugged me in the last few seasons, he always seems to be in a foul mood ever since his rant against Brian.

Stopped following it about season 11/12 as well. Was a late comer to family guy so had all the dvds from season 1 - 10 (same with american dad which was also great in its own way). Have watched both a bit recently on fox when I started stumbling across them again with some new ones. Stilly funny but not as brilliant as they were. All these shows run their course.

Actually flicked onto it last night and Giggidy was dating Peters daughter as she was 18.... it was mental....I don’t know how they get away with it.

I've never found it funny, it's so hacky, lowbrow and unclever and the constant cutaways to stick in jokes unrelated to the story got so tiresome. I actually think American Dad was better.

South Park and the Simpsons are incredibly smartly written, Family Guy is like something written by a fraternity bro.

The Orville is an absolute gem.

I stopped watching it around season 10. It's gone like The Simpsons. They really need to both be put out of their misery.

I saw a recent episode of Family Guy and barely cracked a smile once in the episode (although I turned it off before the end, so maybe that's where they keep all the lulz) - I think the issue is that it doesn't seem anyone is putting any thought into the episodes, there's nothing topical or relevant... they just keep flogging the same few jokes over-and-over.

Ok, Family Guy has been on for 16 seasons, so maybe it's bound to become stale? False, South Park has been on for 21 seasons and it is still relevant, biting, topical and funny. Sure, was there a weird season last year (the year before?) but the creators acknowledged that and took the heat for making a creative decision. IMHO that's amazing for a show that's been on for 20+ seasons... at least the creators still care enough to do something new and different and find out the hard way whether it works or not!

I cant keep up with the repeats on Fox...its a real pain, same episodes on 2 or 3 times a week...

I never had the patience for it, I still haven't finished the season 5 dvd that I got in Christmas 2007. I have been enjoying The Fresh prince of bel air recently, there is a lot of humor in that show.

Used to be a big fan about ten years ago but haven't watched an episode in years now. I feel it got stale and kept going for too long, like what happened with The Simpsons.

I loved it up until they started forcing really **** musical interludes in to the episodes - they are all so badly written with hair ripping levels of annoyance & repetition. They probably sound clever & funny in Seths head, but they never translate to anything less than pure cringe on screen.

South Park has had a few dips IMO.

The Simpsons has been terrible for almost 20 years at this stage.

Family Guy is what it is and it varies too. I watched most of season 15 in a couple of goes and thought there were some really good episodes in it.

South Park isn't even South Park anymore. Unless you care about American politics there's no point in watching it. It peaked around seasons 9-11 and has been on a decline since and once the show stopped focusing on the 4 boys and became a vector for their political opinions and topical news stories i lost all interest in it. A whole season about Political correctness and ****ing Donald trump? Yeah no thanks. I'll just go rewatch Imaginationland.

Family Guy was great in its prime too but i grew out of that humour years ago, also BBC3 is gone so i have no easy way of watching it.

Simpsons is the GOAT and the old episodes are still amazing, but yeah its complete gash now should have called it quits after the movie.
