Under new system you are simply applying for an AP1 or AP2 post. Duties will be assigned afterwards and can be changed on a regular basis to reflect needs of school.

Under old system, you applied for duties specific to an AP1/AP2, that is not the case anymore.

It sounds like a business pitch then for your area of specialisation.

If I were to get the AP1 position I would....

What paddy says is true but a teacher can tell if an A post will be a year head if there is a vacancy in that area.

    But that's all changing now.
It'd be year head + other duties

We've just started a review of posts. All it has done is confirm that I definitely don't want one. There is way too much unknown, you are applying to a job that could change annually. The money just isn't worth the stress for me anyways

My school has decided not to even start the review until next Sept. We are due two AP1 and two AP2 posts.

Well our school have gone through the review process. We were all randomly placed into groups and came up with a list of needs for the school.

The school development committee then narrowed them down to a short list which went through the BOM.

The interviews were held for AP1s of which we had two and the places have been filled however the people appointed don't know what role they got!!!!!!

I'm assuming after the appeals deadline a review of AP1s will be carried out and I expect a re gig of people in those roles will occur!!

Overall the process wasn't too painful :-)

Now the AP2 posts are up next.......I'll keep ye posted 😂😂

Its only started. We got told about needs of the school and that leading our schools document then split up into groups to decide on the needs of the school. TBH my group was a bit of a disaster and we got no where. Others seem to have done better. We then ranked things individually using a google form and we get a list back of the results. It was not my favourite meeting with multiple post holders in my group. #superawkward

It should have been split so that postholders were spread evenly around the room.

The benefits of group work knows no bounds. Yet the inspectorate expects 14 year olds to do this about things they have no interest in.

One of my colleagues said to me "hold on, are we deciding on what extra work to give to the post-holders?". He was delighted filling in as much as possible :pac:

We did, we were just a lucky group who had two plus a couple of people who had no clue what was going on and what should or shouldn’t be on the list. Painful.

Have to hand it to the JMB, they did a great job on this one! We have nice generic titles like PR, who decides what the nitty gritty will be....the Principal.
These posts will be loaded, just a pity that the duties of P & DP are included.

How best should should one prepare for these interviews? Interviewing for these seems so broad given all the roles we have listed after our review.

Read your application form. You showed competency in key areas. Read towards 2016 planning for our schools

I spoke to ASTi today about these posts. staff should have been consulted. If you feel this didnt really happen Id ask for an ASTi meeting and then the outcome of this meeting to be communicated to the Secretary BOM. Principals will fall back on consultation and consensus if people quibble about posts. In other words-we had a meeting. You agreed to this etc etc. If you want evidence that there really wasnt consultation/Consensus now is the time to build it-not after interviews.

Just had a query from a friend. Is there any guidelines for the composition of the group that take all the feedback from the whole staff and conduct the final review? I remember our old review two years ago was - P / DP / 2AP / 2SP / 3 Non-Post.

    Just wondering has that changed?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,517 ✭✭✭✭TheDriver

I think it's now P, DP, AP1, AP2 and non post holder and any other person

Given that the people going for new jobs dont have a post the composition of such a board seems unfair.
Most people being interviewed dont have a post

Best of luck to them. In the end I didnt apply as the vast majority of jobs were not worth 2k after tax and were just full of bull****. However I respect those who thought they are worthwhile- its just most of these plans to be written are booker prize entries.
