The Cure sounds amazing, despite the television making it sound like there's no audience.

There is an audience. They're just disappointed with the left field selection that Robert chose

    Shes doing great:)
She is ripping it up, terrific performer live.
Clearly she has a lot of influences (prince big time) but the Janet Jackson thing is obvious....but in fairness she was so poor y'day :(

The Cure just keep lifting it, again and again. Thorough professionals.

No, you are because you want them to play greatest hits

They're playing their music and have been excellent. They have the right to play what they want. The crowd had choices of who to see tonight and are still there.

    The crowd reaction says otherwise

I thought their curfew was 11pm, but looks like they have another 30 mins. Lovely.

It's not remotely left field. They've done nothing especially obscure. The vast majority of the songs in this setlist were released as singles. If you only knew the two compilations (Standing on a Beach and Galore), you would know most of it. And the "deep cuts" are from albums that even casual fans should be familiar with.

2024 Gigs and Events: David Suchet, Depeche Mode, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, The Smile, Pixies, Liam Gallagher John Squire/Jake Bugg, Kacey Musgraves (x2), Olivia Rodrigo, Mitski, Muireann Bradley, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Eric Clapton, Girls Aloud, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Rewind Festival, The Smashing Pumpkins/Weezer, Henry Winkler, P!nk, Pearl Jam/Richard Ashcroft, Taylor Swift/Paramore, Suede/Manic Street Preachers, Muireann Bradley, AC/DC, Deacon Blue/Altered Images, The The, blink-182, Coldplay, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Nick Lowe, David Gilmour, ABBA Voyage, St. Vincent, Public Service Broadcasting, Crash Test Dummies, Cassandra Jenkins.

2025 Gigs and Events: Billie Eilish (x2)

The thousands of people that are there?

How do you know? TV turn them down.

Also, can you not see you're in a minority of one on this thread?

Think that's only Croke Park. No residents to worry about there.

Wouldn't be a Cure fan, but this is absolutely facking brilliant, his voice is immense.

I only have one best of album and whatever I can remember from the radio in the 80s/90s to go on and I’d say I recognise about half the playlist. But I’m enjoying all of them so far. it s good music played by a solid band who have their **** together. Whats this odd idea that every track played has to be well known to a general audience? It’s virtually impossible to fill a set that way. Anyway, I got a good rendition of Just Like Heaven earlier so its all gravy from here on as far as I’m concerned.

    Hey, its Sunday

A pity I had to choose between The Cure and Janelle Monae. Both great acts but I watched Ms Monae's whole set on the red button. Brilliant. The security guys will probably hate her for the crowd walk at the end!

The Cure may be the best band on the planet.

I'd love them to throw in The Hanging Garden or something even more funereal right at the end for the buzz.
