    I've had the same thing happen. You'll very possibly get the item next week and amazon might tell you to keep it too. It seems to just sit somewhere for a few days, no idea why.

    Did the employee just repeat what was on the tracking info or did they say they had actually seen the package?

    All very odd. It could have just dropped down the back of something and wasnt noticed until yesterday.
