Getting Contacts from an old, knackered Android smartphone

Hi Folks

Apologies if this is in the wrong place... my Samsung Galaxy gave up the ghost last week and finally went kaput. It has a dim blue flashing light but will no power on.

I have a new phone now - also android - but I had not got my contacts backed up. Is there any way I can retrieve the Contacts from the old phone if it can't be powered on?

No, afraid not. You might have them backed up on an SD card maybe?

They hadn't been backed up in two months, unfortunately

When you connect it to a PC via USB, does anything happen to let you know it is connected?

Without any programs, you could extract contacts that way, or

You could try this, it probably will not work, but worth a shot

I only seem to have a very small fraction of my contacts saved on my gmail. Not sure what way I had it sent up, but it doesn't have all of em anyway.

Hey Man - it worked, kinda!

Well, the method in the initial video didn't work, but the first 'suggested' video that came up afterwards had a load of things to try and I was able to eventually restore em. So, thanks a lot! Big headache solved ðŸ˜Š
