Posted this in the android forum but not much help there so trying here with
    you good folk.

My own android phone is working away perfectly but I'm trying to set up
a brand new alcatel pixie android phone to wifi for a friend who lives here.

When in notifications my wifi icon is there but shaded out.

First time I tried to connect it asked me for the password which I entered
and the icon lit up like a light bulb, but soon as I left the notifications page,
there was no icon showing anywhere.

Go back in and try again, its tries and does connect 'sometimes' but when u
leave no joy, other times it just says 'authenticating problem'

How do I resolve this, so near sooooooo farfrown.png any suggestions appreciated.

The modem is a 3 mifi and I had it working with 2 phones recently and not a
    bother.

Are you sure you are just not out of range? Have you tried connecting it to the Mobile Data?

You need to reset routes on your phone

Do you mean restore to factory settings?

    What model device you use?
Some of MiFi have limit on connected devices.
Say HUAWEI E5573 Wifi router connects up to 10 Wi-Fi enabled devices.
Some older models only 5 (had one, can't think of model number. Edit: had this one Huawei E585 - up to 5 dev. limit)

To check , turn off all phones, laptops, tablets, etc. WiFi's(or disconnect) and then try to connect your new phone. Alternatively log on to MiFi device from browser and check list of connected devices somewhere under WLAN or statistics.
