You can kick yourself for not speaking up and move on?

Clearly a mistake was made where they charged you for a drink that was given free, but rather than bring it to their attention you paid for it anyway.

If the cost of the hot chocolate is that important, you could always go back and explain what happened and see what they say, but you don't even have a receipt.

Otherwise just chalk it up to a mistake?

What outcome would you like? The waiter apologized and you said you were fine, so what's the issue?

A cup broke and you spilled a drink which was replaced. Did the waiter say you would get a free drink or just that he would replace it for free?

I'd say move on and forget about it.

I was hoping they would give me a voucher to be honest.

    A voucher for what?

Did you pay for two drinks or three including the one your friend had?

Ah now, that's pushing it. You said you were fine, ignored it and finished the drink.

You are entitled to a free hot chocolate. It's unclear if you actually got this or not. If not then you are entitled to a refund for one hot chocolate.

Looks like a mis-communication between the two staff members.
The barman handled the situation well but the waitress just did her job in collecting the tab thinking you were ok with things.

I advise you to forget it.

I got a free one but I still got billed for the one that spilled. This should never have happened. Some of the broken sediments from the mug was ingrained in my finger. The least they could do is give me a voucher for the hotel. It's not good enough.

Im sorry...but this happens sometimes...if it happened in a friends house would you want compensation from them?

A cup broke and you weren't hurt... There is no consumer issue here...

So you got and consumed three drinks but paid for two due to one cup breaking. You told the barman you were fine but expect a voucher for the hotel along with the free drink.

How much would you like the voucher to be for? A weekend stay with dinner perhaps?

    Ah it is though

They only way they'll do something like that is if you complain to the manager and make your displeasure felt.

You told the barman you were fine, so he was hardly going to take it any further. You told him it was fine, he took you at your word. You were OK with it at the time

You should have rolled around screaming and demanded an ambulance.

Schoolboy error on your part, good lawyer and you could have owned that hotel this time next year:rolleyes:

That's terrible. The handle fell of his cup with no damage or harm done. And he wasn't given compensation.

Lord Jesus, shocking carry one.

It clearly wasnt that traumatic for you since you went ahead and finished the drink.

You mean you got billed for the one you drank, no?

They apologised and gave you a free drink to go along with the one you had already taken. I would advise you follow it up with a cup of cop on.

Have you said anything to the hotel after you paid?

    Im guessing not.

It's a bit two faced to tell the staff you were fine and then go bitching about it afterwards. I don't think the hotels would have any vouchers for a course in common decency to issue, but it may be worth a try.

EDIT - Oh hey, was just thinking there, maybe you should get in contact with the hotel as soon as you can to straighten things out after all, just in case they try to blame you for breaking their delph!

Hi OP, you appear to be suffering from a form hot chocolate cup sedimentary infection which is making you delirious, you should pay a visit to a specialist and be sure to keep the receipt so the hotel can cover the costs.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,735 ✭✭✭SteM

Judging by the edit I don't think the OP is getting the replies he/she expected.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,092 ✭✭✭fineso.mom

The OP is owed a refund for 1 cup of coffee. That is all.

The OP only paid for two drinks altogether . They got three drinks, so they got one free. So they already got sorted. No need for a free drink and a refund as well.

Are you connected to that blogger in the news, that wanted something for nothing?
