Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is it safe to buy an imported French phone?

There is a shop in the city centre selling a phone I want at a very discounted price.

They claim it is brand new, unopened, comes with receipt, etc. But the only catch, they say, is that it is from France. The charger plug doesn't fit Irish sockets but the cable will work with standard Irish plugs so it shouldn't be a problem.

They are selling it for €200 less than market value. I'm very suspicious.

Has anyone bought a phone from France or any other imported phone? Is there a reason it is being sold so cheap?

    Thanks for reading.

Or is it the seller you don't trust?

If it sounds to good to be true, then you have right to be suspicious!

You haven't stated the Phone or who the seller is.

It maybe they bought to much stock, of something they couldn't sell on.

So trying to recoup some cost by flogging them off cheap.

If nobody wanted it in the first place, probably not worth it at any price.

It also may not have full band support here?

Check the bands of the device on https://willmyphonework.net/

    Thanks for the replies!

The phone was the Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact. The seller was one of those little shops in Dublin city centre that repairs phones, I won't mention which one.

Turns out the seller was a time waster anyway. They waited until I arrived at the shop to tell me it was sold. I suspect it was never for sale in the first place and the done deal ad they put up is just cheap advertising for their business.

Now I'm looking at getting the XZ1 Compact from amazon.co.uk. It will work fine in Ireland, right?
