Will UK Smart tv work in Ireland?

Hi

Im looking at buying a samsung 40 inch smart tv ive seen for £349. im planning to swing by Tesco in Newry and pick it up.

However, im worried about there being any limitations using it in the republic of Ireland?

We have just changed to sky who are coming next week. If it is unable to pick up saorview channels, will it still get the Irish channels on sky without any issues?

As its a smart tv, will i be able to install irish apps like Rte etc? will they work ok?

Sky works via HDMI so you will be grand.

Check on https://www.saorview.ie/en/get/products to see if the TV is Saorview compatible.

Not sure on RTE app.

Thanks for that. I did check out the website but when i enter that model number it says it is not found.

However, I have found the same model on argos website and says

Freeview digital tuner.

Saorview digital tuner (Saorview can only be received in the Republic of Ireland).


So I assume I am correct that samsung are not going to sell different versions of this same model to UK market than to Irish ?

Im assuming if I buy same model up north its the exact same as buying the same model in Argos etc in republic of Ireland.

Do you reckon this would be correct?

It should work out at around €400 to buy up north which is still cheaper than argos here at €469.99 and seems to be same TV for €439 in currys.

I cant tell for sure if it is in stock in Tesco in Newry. No matter what address I put in it says its not available so not sure if thats the case or not as says the same no matter what address you put in.

All Samsung, LG, Sony etc have the same models for UK and Ireland

Saorview will work on the Samsung TV above. You will have the option of UK or Ireland on the initial setup of the TV

I presume RTE Player is on all of Samsung's 2017 models

Ask in any of the TV stores near you to be sure
