I wish everyone luck with this, a foot in the door as they say, but it seems a very quick turn around.

Hi, I interviewed in August for 2017 campaign. And still have not been placed is this closed now as 2018 campaign is open? Or why would you go to Dublin if they hadn't places coming up. Just a query, tia!

This campaign came out late January 2018 and closed 5 of February and questionnaire came out 8th of February. Very quick turnaround.

No, the 2017 CO panel for Dublin is still live, it's a different competition. The 2018 national CO competition hasn't been announced yet.

I think you should ring PAS about that. Seems strange that you never got placed.

What is the 2018 National Campaign? What's different in it to this Campaign?

Hey Guys, I cant seem to access the booklet anymore, but what did they say the rate of pay was?. And does anyone know if you served on a contract previously and you served so long you were at point 2 of the s scale before the contract finished, would you be pit back to point 1 again?

It's a permanent CO competition; unlike this campaign, which only offers temporary positions, the permanent competition will offer posts that are permanent. Panels formed in the permanent competitions usually last for about two years. The last permanent competition launched in spring 2016, and people who are on that panel are still being processed. The 2016 panel will close once the 2018 panel is formed.

You would be entitled to point 2 on the payscale.

    Hiya

Thank you - what is point 2 on the payscale?

Also, if I worked before on a previous TCO campaign, will that affect what pay scale I go in on?

    Thanks!

I didn't know they came out today.I did this last year.
Interview in Dublin, apparently it weeds out a lot of people by having to go to Dublin. As one person who did previous interviews said they want to check you are a person who can talk and write. I was basically asked did I sign this form.

Interview was Friday, email Monday to say I was successful. Phone call on Tuesday offering me a 10 week contract starting following Monday with possibility of becoming 13 weeks. Asked for a few hours to think about it. I called back saying I wasn't available for the 10 weeks as I had holidays booked. They offered me 8 weeks and I took it. I got 3 days holidays and took them at the end as flights were booked. I.also worked in an office with flexi time so worked up time for another 2 days off
Pay was €415 a week paid each Thursday into bank account. I was one of the few "adult" TCOs in our office, it was mainly college students and even a few school kids.
No you won't be made permanent from this. One girl with us got extended from 8 weeks to 13 when someone left. And one got extended to 6 months due to extended sick leave by the person she was covering.
Will there be a permanent CO competition this year? I know Revenue have a new system coming in and will need bodies for it

Waiting too. Trying to remember what number I was last year. I know it was much lower than I was expecting but I did get a contract. Apparently almost 50% refuse them

What is actually supposed to happen today/this week?
    Is it invite to interview?
And does anyone know if you’ve been interviewed for permanent position do they pull from those. It was a question on the form “have you ever been interviewed by PAS?”

I think we'll be told our place on the order of merit in the location we picked, and get an invite to interview sometime afterwards depending on how highly we score.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 869 ✭✭✭tringle

You will be notified of your number in your location. They interview as positions become available and only a week before the position starts, very last minute so don't expect to get an interview before Easter. Most positions are 8, 10 and 13 week contracts and usually July and August. They go very strictly according your position on the list and what is available in your county, so if you get offered a position 50km away there is no point in holding out for one in he nearest office. It is a yes or nothing.

I just rang and asked. Sim0ly because every time an email comes in I jump lol! They said the volume of people that applied was huge, about 10,000 so results will definitely not be out this week and it could take up to 3 weeks from now.

Did anyone see the post on facebook from publicjobs.ie saying about the weather and scheduled interviews? Its said keep checking your messages on publicjobs.ie

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 909 ✭✭✭munsterdevil

I know we shouldn't be surprised but why didn't they just send us a generic message on publicjobs explaining the situation. Instead we had to reply on Mandik calling them.

That's not connected to Temporary Clerical Officer Campaign

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,131 ✭✭✭misstearheus

Can't remember if I asked I know I meant to. I havn't got a bull's clue which Offices these Roles would be based in. I need a big long list of all the possible locations in the whole entire Country and I might be able to do a bit of research and go from there then! Complete this and complete that and complete the other and not a peep about the type of Offices they run or where Applicants would be based like. What an absolute crap recruitment process.:rolleyes:

Outside of Clerical roles then, there's a whole myriad of things on the publicjobs Website Medical people and School Principals. What is the point of HBS Recruitment if there's medical posts advertised on the publicjobs Website!! A complete waste of time, energy, resources and Stationery supplies!

These will be in government offices in your county, most usually Revenue and Customs or Dept Social protection. They will not be with HSE/Tulsa or Council both of which run their own competitions and I don't think takes on TCOs during the summer. If your county has one or two.buildings called "Government offices" with a few sections it wull probably be there. You don't get to pick where or what department you go to, the next on the list gets offered the next vacancy, if you say no you are dropped from the list completely and the next person offered. As I've said already about 50% of offers are refused.
Remember these are just Temporary summer positions, mostly July and August and have nothing to do with any permanent panel at all.

General tco competition. My cousin got it but was terminated early as they had got permission to recruit from permanent panel.

Did anyone hear anything about results of questionnaire ? It said the results would be out this week

    Hi,

I know that if we receive an offer, it's on a take-it-or-leave-it basis. But does anyone know whether you can ask for some time to decide (like one or two hours)?

I'm asking because I'm living abroad but I'll be returning home later in the year. If I get a call before I get back to Ireland, I'd consider it, if it was 5/6 months+, but I couldn't say yes on the spot.

Does anyone have any experience of this? When I got the call to work in PeoplePoint a few years ago, I just accepted so it wasn't an issue.

By the way, best of luck to everyone!

If you score in the top 100 your only getting a 10 week contract.

Anything above 100 possibly 6 months.

I wonder what the reasoning for that is?

It's nothing to do with qualifications or suitability....it's the luck of the draw as in,
what post is next to be filled .....and because the majority of those posts are "term time" i.e. 8 - 10 week cover for school holidays, that's whats offered to people who are high up on the panel. You could be lucky and get get a longer term for sick leave/ maternity etc.....
