Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Arsenal making big name signings. To be fair, it is very hard for us to compete with that. :pac:

    Trump doesn't like them.

He's more of a United fan, don't think that's a good thing but he could go for "Let's make United great again" or Jose could build a wall instead of parking the bus.

If Zlatan wants to stay to the end of the season then great. Maybe he will regain enough fitness that he could be a good option in some games - another option up front when chasing a goal. I'd lose zero sleep over the extra wages spent to be honest. a drop in the ocean of hedge fund fees, debt repayments and dividends.

If he wants to head to America and play at a lower level that would be less physically taxing, then I'd wish him good luck too.

Disappointing that United are going to be the one side he didn't win a league title with though.

Laporte has triggered his release clause

Citys most expensive signing,no media circus about wages or agents fees

Laporte has triggered his release clause

Citys most expensive signing,no media circus about wages or agents fees

Cause he is paying Bilbao 60million out of his own money, to play for City for free. for the love of the game. for beauty. for pep.

Pep, hes all about the coaching....

    - Bought the most expensive goalkeeper in history.
    - Bought the 2 most expensive full-backs in history.
    - 2 of the 4 most expensive centre-backs in history when Laporte joins..

He has been saving his money for this move, reports are he withdrew all his money from his post office account today

How much including wages will Laporte cost? Oh wait nobody cares about wages unless it can be used against United....

It is a case that United simply are a bigger club that more people love to read positive or nagatige stories about.

Apparently City wouldn't allow Laporte & Bilbao to have a goodbye press conference. Thats poor form imo. Bilbao are an actual family club so woulda been nice if he got a proper farewell.

He’s a top coach but did f**k all of note at Bayern. Unlike Barca or city, he didn’t have pretty much a choice of top players to sign. Funny that. Don’t recall Jose having this sort of choice at Inter!

Haven't we been told all week that if you're a forward you want to play for Pep otherwise you#re a mercenary. Shouldn't the same apply in reverse if you're a defender??

Feels like if he signed for United all the headlines would be "United splash €150 million" . .

    Serious answer.

Release clauses have to be paid by the players themselves in Spain I think, so the buying clubs give them the cash. So City give him 60m plus the relevant taxes, and then he buys himself out of the contract, and signs for City.

Can i just say .. wouldn't it just be hilarious if he turned around and then signed for United instead....

Now obviously it wouldn't happen.... but imagine the uproar.......

During Neymar saga a lot was written on this. Employment law in spain allows for the contract to include a release clause. It is supposed to be linked to the wages of the employee. In most football cases the buying club will pay the fee to the receiving club as there is a general acceptance the transfer is inevitable. The selling club can be stubborn, insist the player pay up, but that is pointless now as the tax was removed in 2016.

I believe the original Herrera deal failed as Bilbao did not want to accept money from United and if United paid Herrera the tax issue increased the cost, stopping it.

Second time round I think Bilbao were more agreeable to a transfer due to the timing so the clubs worked together.

Fuk that we have Sanchez now if he is on form not one team will look forward to facing him either.

I'd be looking forward to facing arsenals defence and midfield.

amazing how Arsene is loosening the purse strings

thats 60m on Aubameyang and 50m on Lacazette...

still less than 953m we paid for Sanchez.....

which has probably gone up another 47.68m for the add ons on Auba's deal....
to bring Sanchez deal to beyond the first billion dollar transfer!!!!

Jose said the club is there to help him in whatever he chooses to do. Jose did say he's on his last year of his contract and it wouldn't be surprising to see United release him if that's what he wants.

Besides us and WBA/Southampton, the other Prem teams get lower league clubs. What are the odds of that happening? I'm sure nothing to do with heated balls or anything of the sort....

Yep now all he needs is zlatan.

Don't think they will actually play until 2019 or 2020 I'd imagine.

    Some fun* Anthony Martial facts....

    - Anthony Martial and Jimmy Greenhoff both on 39 goals in 123 apps. Jimmy only played 123 times for United, hopefully Anthony plays many more times.
    - Anthony Martial also now only 3 goals behind Juan Mata for the honour of being the top club goal scorer currently playing for us.
    - Martial, Carrick and Valencia have all scored 24 premier league goals.

    *may not actually be fun

I've no idea how the forward line will look, I just want to see Martial and Sanchez starting

I doubt there will be any real surprises.

4231 with the normal back 4.

    ......Pogba Matic
    Sanchez Mata Martial
    ...........Rom

Maybe swap Sanchez and Mata's positions or swap Jesse in for Mata.
