Ive seen a few guys in the gym who wear them both young and old.

Question to the older guys in the thread: Would you find it odd for someone between 20-40 who wears a vest nowadays?

I bought one ( pack of two actually ) recently to wear under my shirt to stop it stinging the nipples off me ....

Took a selfie in it and sent it to my young adult children , hoping it will encourage them to move out :D , if not I'll wear it mowing the lawn during the summer .

I hate the sight of the outline of a traditional vest under a shirt, it's unmistakable and only forgiveable if you're also wearing a flat cap and saying 'Eh, up!' a lot.

I wear WonderWoman pjs with shorts and a tank vest to bed sometimes, that's the closest I'd get.

My granny does occasionally ask me if I'm wearing a vest if I complain of being cold. She thinks all life's illnesses can be avoided by the wearing of vests and the liberal application of Vicks Vaporub, preferably while drinking flat Seven-Up and avoiding sitting on radiators.

I usually wear a tank top under a jumper/t-shirt/shirt/etc. so I guess that's like a vest. It is a lot warmer than wearing your jumper etc on bare skin and I just find it more comfortable.

I wear a vest over a shirt and tie.
It looks good - I get lots of admiring looks.

Pro tip: Pull your jeans up to your armpits and then you have no need for a vest

Gonna buy a vest and see does Mrs Neckedit find me Sexy again....... where does the love go.........

The love doesn't really go..life just gets busy, draining, stressful, complicated, and so on, and people forget that they love the other one. They push it to the back of their minds. But they can be reminded. Gently. But with straight up authenticity.
    Tell her the truth.
Sit down with Mrs Neckedit some day soon...maybe you are wearing a vest, the white ones are pretty nice, especially when new or just washed, and close fitting now, not sloppy, but grey is a little better, grey ribbed is cute, or a black vest if you are feeling pretty hot...and say to her sincerely, and calmly, ''I love you. I want to be the one who loves you and I want you to be the one who loves me. I need love. It's just how it is, I need to be loved, and to feel loved. And I would really like if it is you who loves me. Because I love you.''
After that, no big drama or tears or anything, just the truth, you could say, ''And, girl, check out this freaking sexy vest I am wearing!''

    Good luck! :)

Yes indeed, I use light, white cotton T-shirts as vests and replace them regularly - there's only a couple of quid apiece from The Dunnes.

Poor attempt to troll op. The suggestion that there are people who dont wear a vest is simply preposterous, and those claiming they dont are only playing up to you. Its a bizarre idea alright, and there is something tickling about the very idea, bizarre and all as it sounds.

For a man anyway, the morning decision of choosing the right vest to suit the environmental conditions, season, and the requirements of the day is the most important one he makes in the whole day. Choose the wrong vest, and the day is all down hill from there.

For any self respecting man, his vest selection will be the largest part of his wardrobe.
There are so many styles to be stocked and the decision is not always an easy one. Cotton, sythetic or blend. Vee, round or mock neck according to the over-vest garment being chosen is a critical one. Sleeveless, shortsleeve, or long sleeve. Colour according to shirt if appropriate. Ultrafine, seamless, stretch or loose. And thats just a sample for starters. Thermal ratings alone are a nightmare to get right when the climat demands. Juggle the above permutations and the nightmare it can become for those not organised in the vest department is not to be taken lightly. Add in those specialist requirements when the optimum solution is a two vest day, and weak minds can truly boggle.

Do you wear a vest !!!! Like, WTF ? Of course one wears a vest.

Last week I wore 3 t-shirts under my 2 hoodies. I’ll fight anyone who says the inside one counts as a vest. Well, I’ll shake my fist very vigorously in your general direction while threatening to call your father.

Thats just a lesser-spotted, three round-neck-short-sleeve cotton vest day. Rare but not unheard of at all. Its a big vest day though.

Everybody used to wear a vest in days gone by, kids, old folks and everybody in between.

Does anyone still wear a vest other than at the extremes of the age spectrum.

Yes, a habit I picked up from my father, don't think I can change now.I have a good build so I look alright in a vest.

It only looks out of place if you're walking around every day with just a vest on. I wear a white vest under my clothing, be it a jumper, shirt or tee-shirt.

Same with me, I also wear a t-shirt under a t-shirt as well which is strange but I can't shake the habit.

Why you do that, have you a small frame build?

I wear a string top under jumpers and heavier tops, as they provide a more skin tight layer for comfort. I assume they count as a vest?

    like this?!

I normally don't (don't wear jumpers or t-shirts either.. just shirts really) but it's been very cold there lately so I gave in and bought 2 packs of vests. It does help if you hate the cold as I do.

Soon as it warms up again though they'll be going in the drawer.

Nope, I've a good frame on me. I think it was fashionable at one point to wear a round neck under and v-neck tshirt and I've just never grown out of it. Although I don't wear v-necks at all now.

Those are stringers brah do u even lift?

They're in my gym too, even lads who look like they've anorexia wear them. I find them uncomfortable but each to their own.

The mother used make us wear vests every day of the year. Whether it was uniform, mass clothes, home clothes or whatever if you had boxers on you'd a vest on as well.

Only time I've worn them since is on holiday where you can pick up half decent looking ones for a few euro and they do the job to and from the beach and what not. They're probably not considered 'vests' though, more tank top.
