Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Scart to HDMI

My parents bought a new TV last week. However it will not connect to their UPC/Virgin set-top box. The TV came with a HDMI to HDMI cable. The set top box uses a Scart cable. My question is if I purchase a Scart to HDMI converter such as this will that enable the TV to work?

I realise that there will likely be a loss of quality but if it's good as what they were getting previously my parents (who are in their 70s) will not care. Yes, they should get onto their provider to upgrade their package to a HD one but again, they don't care about that.

+1 definitely do this, otherwise they will be messing around with a converter which will need a separate power socket. The analog signal from the SCART socket on the UPC box has to be converted to digital to go into the HDMI connection on the new TV so it won't be a simple adapter. Just ask Virgin Media for a new box because you can't use a SCART connection any more.

I had the exact same problem last week. I called virgin media and they tried to charge me €90 for a box with a HDMI connection. When I said I’d move to a supplier that would be provide me with a box that wasn’t using 1970s technology they miraculously waived the fee and I had the new box the next day. A decent converter cable will set you back €70 and are not easy to find.
