    Hundreds of years of oppression? It had been law since 1927.

    We were the ones being oppressed 100s of years ago under the Penal Laws.

    Think the RCC was about abstaining from meat on that day though wasn't it (I'm not a canon law expert)?

    The alcohol thing was the Irish state.

    Yeah (in case it wasn't clear) my post was pretty tongue in cheek tbh, of course you can still have house party's on Good Fridays, but the point being that tr traditionally there was so many epic house party's because the pubs were shut.

    Throwing a house party just because it's good Friday prob won't catch on.
