Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. I expect we'll have it won in game at Anfield. They've no hope in all fairness.

Holy Sh1t Balls - the semis are gonna be epic

Doable but would not have been my first choice. We out first does that mean first game is at Anfield?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,436 ✭✭✭One_Of_Shanks

Probably the last bloody draw we'd have wanted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,363 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

A better draw than getting Madrid or Messi.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,546 ✭✭✭✭murpho999

Tough draw but what can you do.

We beat them already this season but two legs will be tough and 2nd leg away is harder too.

Tie will be over at Anfield in my opinion.

Would you have wanted Barcelona, Real or Munich?

Dunno. I would loved to have played madrid or barca.....or juve and bayern!!
We play city every year...give me any of the European heavyweights any day of the week!!

Arrah, gonna be an epic epic tie. Would have preferred the second leg at home mind, but alas.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,746 ✭✭✭BullBlackNova

Was the one I wanted to avoid. Bad enough to get another PL side but to play at home first, too, heaps the advantage their way.

F*ck it, we've beaten them once this season, let's do it again!

Once Mané doesn't get sent off in Manchester, we might be able to have a go at them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,295 ✭✭✭✭citytillidie

Manchester and Merseyside derbies in the middle of the two games, Liverpool should be on to the FA now to play those games on the same day to give no team an advantage

would have liked at least one of Barca, Real, City or Bayern to knock each other out, semi's will be tough

It could easily be the best 2 legged tie in years.

The worst part of this is all the biggest boys are likely to get through too.

Absolutely. As hard as you can get really if we make it past City.

Yeah I'd have preferred a non-English side personally.

To be honest I wanted juve Madrid Bayern or barca. This tie is one of the "easier ties" imo. We can beat City.

You'd have to wonder how none of them faced off . If UEFA had to hand pick this outcome this would be it.

We'll just have to wait till the semi-final now.;)

Its a cliche, but at the end of the day, when you get to this stage there are no easy ties. Just gotta hope the same heads dont turn up that started the United game and they are mentally prepared.

    Wow.

Probably the toughest tie we could have gotten.

City had easiest group in CL , they followed it up with easiest round of 16 . They've played no one of note. Liverpool can win this tie at Anfield.

No problem with City, just would have preferred the 2nd leg at Anfield.
We swept them aside at home and we troubling them plenty in the away game earlier before we went down to 10 men.

It's a tough but winnable tie definitely.

    Bloody excited :D

So City will be playing ManU on the weekend between, probably to seal the title, but will have to let the United players know that they have a much more important game the following week :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,872 ✭✭✭Dickerty

    Gutted by the draw.

We will have to beat the very best teams to win it. If we get past City, every team will come to Anfield PETRIFIED...

the United game bears absolutely no relevance to the City tie.

City will not go direct to a giant centre forward.
    They won't drop off.
They will try to press us and impose their game upon us at every moment.
They will play out intricately from the back, backing themselves to beat the traps that we set.

this will be two teams, playing to their offensive strengths, and trying to just outdo each other.

it will look like a different sport entirely compared to the Utd game.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,861 ✭✭✭Mr.H

If we can take a lead into the second leg then city will play into Liverpool's hands in the second leg. We can do this. I'd almost play a second string in the palace and everton games. I mean f*ck it. Top 4 isn't guaranteed but we should be ok

UEFA top brass delighted. Chances of a big club breakaway reduced.

Milner Hendo and Can in midfield should be our best mids for the games

City fan here, definitely haven't come in peace. Should be a great game, only happy that the second leg is at ours. If it's anything like the league games, then we are in for a goal feast.

What price Sterling to score a last minute winner :pac:

Seriously though, it will be really tough, have no idea how it will unfold.

Cracking tie as far as I'm concerned. City have beaten Liverpool about 5 times in the last 15 years.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,073 ✭✭✭Devilman40k

We have to play and beat bigger teams at some point - bring it on

**** of a draw. I really didn't want city. should be a cracker of a game.

The team that wins the Champions League this season will have to beat Man City at some stage and I’d give Liverpool a better chance of doing it over two legs than a one off final in a neutral venue.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,405 ✭✭✭Sofa Spud

Ouch, not the first choice draw by any means, but happy that we have the first tie at home - if we can keep a clean sheet - and VVD will be playing this time - then we have a chance on away goals. Hopefully not the end of the world....

I see the obsession with Liverpool continues over on the utd thread :D:D:D usual suspects too lmao :D

Tough draw , bring it on.

Not if we beat them and someone beats us!

Away leg is the Tuesday after Everton (currently on "Super" Sunday)

Will the Everton game be switched back to Saturday now ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,477 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

City was probably the last team I wanted, tbh.

One thing for sure these two teams will play football how it should be played and the footballing world will be in awe of them.

May the best team win and of course that will be Liverpool :)
