Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Karius is getting praise for basically not being horse ****,
He is bang average but because he has improved and is an improvement on Simon people are biging him up .,
He's not good enough, if Allison of Oblak are getable we should go out and get them ,

    Really excited about tonight.

A Champion's League quarter final after so many years.

It will be a great occasion. Very tough opponents whom you would have to make favourites over two legs but we have proven already this season that they are not unbeatable.

Bit worried that with Aguero out that Jesus will come into the side full of spirit after a 3 day rest over the Easter.

I think our midfield has to be OX, Gini and Hendo,
Everyone gives Gini stick and Milner is the better player but we need his energy, he gets a toe on things to disrupted play its vital v City ,We need a team who can move tonight it is vital

Milner every day of the week, gini has the energy but only uses it to go backwards or slow everything down, the chap melts my head 90% of the time.

I just realised, I haven't thought about our goalkeeper in a few weeks.

Considering I previously thought Karius was thoroughly inept and incapable of pulling off saves, that is some turnaround. He's made the most out of his opportunity this time around.

Not too many mentions of Allison now.

I am quite happy with Karius as our #1 next season.

He was a huge part in the win at home to City ,
Also he didn't start the day we " ran out of steam v Spurs " he is vital and iv no doubt in my mind will start tonight,

Seen rumours it's ox ,hendo ,milner in the middle and the rest picks itself

Gini has been woeful this season but this is the type of game he usually makes himself useful in and i'd worry about Milner's legs against this City team.

Few like this tonight without the ones going in the other end

25-0 would be cool. Maybe too much to ask.

Danny Mills "Mo Salah would not get on the Man City team"

Would get in ahead of Sterling & Sane quite easily.

He'd also probably play up top instead of Sergio

Sane on the left with Salah on the right would be something. I like Mane but he's a right sided winger on the left.

That's the problem with modern football punditry. You can offer good balanced opinions or just Eamon Dunphy it. Either way will keep you gainfully employed.

I have a feeling Liverpool will get a peno tonight. Question is who takes it?

My money is on Bobby to take it and score a no-look penalty. Just to take the shine off Ronaldo from last night like

I'd say Firmino or Henderson if Milner is not playing

Guess it is not an English ref so they may have a chance to get a pen tonight if attacking the City box

If Milner's not on I'd give the penalty to Firmino, he's missed a couple but he takes them well, all the penalties I've seen from Salah are a bit hit and hope.

If Milner is on, he has to a take a peno, he's the only one with a decent record of sticking it in. Wouldn't let Salah near it, for all his brilliance he just never seems like a clean striker of a dead ball (same with Torres in his prime). Even the pen to put Egypt to the World Cup was scruffy looking connection all be it under huge pressure.

Likely won't play, but Can would be second behind Milner, German (always a plus :p) and had the coolness to dink it down the middle in the LC final shootout.

VVD - confident player and strikes a good dead ball from his Celtic days anyway.

Wouldn't be confident in any of the rest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,477 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

Don't have a lot of faith in Salah taking penalties tbh. Milner is the obvious choice.

    VVD could be an option.

    Edit: Agreed with Fromvert above.

Word is City have arrived early,
They had previous asked the police to keep the fans away from there bus route , the request was refused  They have now arrived early when there's no fans about,
Pep not sure about his players mind set ?

8-10 posted this in the match thread
Apparently City, who aren’t going to be rattled by the crowd, have turned up at the stadium already over 3hrs before kick off to avoid driving their team bus through the waiting crowd

Amazing if true but surely its not. That would totally be disrupting their preparation and what they do before a game normally.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,477 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

They could have been instructed to by local police even, you wouldn't know. Here's a tweet about it anyway. Not that it adds any real validity to the claim, but you know.

That’s hilarious if true. Bet they’ll sign Timo Werner now in the summer, he’d fit right in there with that mindset.
