Milner & Henderson playing a blinder in a nearly duel holding role leaving Gini to do all the attacking.

Fun Bobby is the most Brazilian footballer we have had at the club.

That title might still go to Lallana :p

Yes, if only Mane could play well again, Salah could finish and Firmino be a proper No 9 then we'd have a good attack.

That's three fouls in nearly as many minutes from Milner. Maybe getting a bit leggy. Could bring on AOC.

That's nearly a perfect break. Lovely 1-2 between Bob and Mo

Milner having a great game. How on earth does he look leggy?

Rang Paddy power just now to stick a bet on us winning this cup thing, they told me the book was closed and they're already paying out..

Mo and Bobby need to teach how to smile when he scores.

Agreed, but seems a bit leggy to me now. Could do with a swap within the next ten mins, I think.

He could be waiting to visit the dentist first like all the others at the club that got new teeth before smiling in public.

Is leggy the new buzzword here now?

I don't know how people can tell he is 'leggy" from his brief appearances on screen.

    Milner is fine.

Just with the 3 late tackles.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

An upside of this is the return leg is a few days before we visit old trafford so we won't have to be chasing this unless Porto have 2018 versions of Deco & Falcao in hiding.

Maybe that's just mistiming or done on purpose?

Following your logic then Paul Scholes was leggy for his entire career.

    Milner is fine.

He looked laboured in about four separate moments in relatively quick succession, where his legs didn't move quite as fast as I bet he'd have liked.

Fairly normal phrase to use in that context!

yup freeing up the Salahinator... and sometimes helping the TAAinator

That's not how logic works. Saying one thing about one set of circumstances does not mean all somewhat tangentially relatable circumstances are also true.

Players can be late for tackles a lot if they're **** at tackling, as Scholes was. Or, getting later in a game, they can commit a lot of late tackles due to being just a bit tired.

Lads. is Van Dyke really this good. He's controlling everything at the back..

Don't think so. None of them were stopping a break or anything.

The game has changed since then though with the other goal, and we can shift from walking pace to full throttle at will now. not as much need for fresh legs, although it's starting to get to that sort of time in the match anyway.

"Headed away by van Dijk" is being said more and more often during Liverpool games.

    Good to hear..
    Long may it continue.

I’ll be genuinely dissapointed if we don’t score another one at least. Porto are extremely committed in attack and we’re holding up well defensively, should be a matter of time until we make another counter attack count. Unless they break us down, then we’re fcuked.

Still early to say of course, but comparing our defensive performances of late with before, it's night and day.

It's not like it was only good teams punishing us... every team with any sort of a chance was getting on the ball right in our box and getting chances. Those just haven't really happened in the past 3 games with VVD in there. We look like we can actually deal with a wee bit of pressure now.

So, still early days, but im really impressed.
