Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Rodgers isn't a bad manager. He's also still only 45.

Yep, definitely hope he goes to Arsenal.

Or maybe even a Rodgers at Liverpool type situation, chips ahoy!

Not sure what you mean....any criticism Rodgers may have received began and ended on the question of merit.

Can't see Arsenal taking Rogers. I can see them taking someone like Tuchel. Simeone would be great for the prem but don't think he's style would suit Arsenal.

I mean lots of fans had a chip on their shoulder because they deemed Rodgers not worthy of such a job, they then continued to nit pick everything he ever did and still do to this day. He did end up within a millimeter of winning the league though, I hope Klopp can better it or at least match it.

Going to be tough. This City team is far better than the City team Rodgers was up against. United are better too than they were back then. And Spurs are much better as well.

The only side who has gone backwards since then is Arsenal.

I don't think the situations are exactly comparable but I understand what you mean. I think any undue criticism Rodgers may have got though was restricted to social media. He didn't have fools (from what i recall) openly protesting him at games like Rafa had at Chelsea.

End of the day Rafa had little to prove going into Chelsea and showed that he was a winner in his short time there. You can't honestly say that's the same as Rodgers taking over at Liverpool.

Rodgers was good at Liverpool when he had the tools and funds. He had neither in the end.
122 league games and only lost 29, and 12 of those losses came in his last season when we had no goal threat, if we conceded it was game over. No manager could compete like that.
The guy could do at Barca what he's doing at Celtic.

Did Rafa have all the Newcastle players in his gaff in Liverpool for the last few days so they could get to the game.

Son scores for spurs. Most underrated player in PL for me.

How can someone lauded so much be under rated?

    Son is an excellent player.

Was anyone really underrating Son in the first place? I think it’s clear to most that he’s an excellent player.

Henderson and Lovren in otherwise unchanged from West Ham

It’s a strong lineup but I’d rather see Gomez in there ahead of TAA for this one. Kenedy is an absolute handful and his delivery from out wide has been excellent, the one real threat in that Newcastle team. Gomez is a bit better at blocking crosses than Trent from what I’ve noticed. Having said that, I don’t see Newcastle getting forward an awful lot here.

Hopefully a comprehensive win, and the pining for Benetiz is kept to a minimum.

The Kop have moved on I reckon, like most normal people though they still show their appreciation for great servants of the club

I'm sure I saw people that would prefer Benitez came back to replace Klopp.. :pac:

Nothing wrong with a bit of appreciation, not sure about everyone moving on though...fairly sure someone was looking for him to come back for next season. :pac:

Can starting on 9 yellows, I guess Klopp isn't too worried about him missing the United game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,397 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

Tbh he rests him for next week and we don’t get a result here and people will use it as a stick to beat him with.

    Don’t think he’ll avoid a yellow though.

Mane awful touch, should always expect the ball.

Not even a surprise at this stage.

Can has moments where he looks as lost and uncomfortable with the football as I do when somebody hands me a baby.

Looked like a corner, even on replay, weird

    Any decent links?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,490 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Thank god no VAR, probably give a penalty there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,775 ✭✭✭✭Gbear

Is Gomez fit? Interesting to see Trent getting the nod these days. Not unjustified or anything, just interesting to see the juggling between solidity and pace.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,438 ✭✭✭j8wk2feszrnpao

Wow. That’s a player in form. Unlucky there.

Reddit truly is a wondrous soccer community.

They are a veritable rivulet (or other aquatic concourse) of content.

A reddit soccer rivulet, if you will.

Liverpool might want to go down easy today, get those freekicks and penalty if one is going. No need to be so honest all the time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,953 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

Time wasting 20 minutes in, but no worries, the ref will book someone for it in the 93rd minute.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

You can tell when Henderson is dictating the tempo that's for sure.

Be nice if one of our midfielders tried passing between the lines for once

Has Lovren ever met a header cleanly?

Henderson pointing back to van Dyke!

Too many touches from Salah....getting there though...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,490 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Salah wanted to get it on his right, wtf
Takes 2 hours tops of practice to be able to hit it with left, has he not got two hours to spare in his whole career.

    He's left footed

Should have training sessions where players play with other foot only.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,953 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

Lovren seems to win a free header from a corner once a game, has barely managed to hit the target with one since Dortmund.

I dunno what he was doing then. Makes no sense not to hit it first time.

Newcastle would bore you to death....they are doing well sitting deep tbf but we can catch them out, just need to be a bit faster in possession and quicker in our decision making.
