They're probably away down the road sipping pints and switched the auto back on so they don't have to drive home! 😉😂

Here in Roscommon radar would say it's been raining the past hour but flat calm, dry and feels quite mild.

A few light drops of rain now - don't expect this to wet the ground (thankfully) and the way it's looking now, I don't expect any snow tonight from it either.

Unless the front was to unexpectedly stall and intensify.

Dry in Cork, clouded over. Pray

The band looks to be almost half way across the country, approaching the midlands. What's worrying is the lack of precipitation reports here and the latest reports on Met Eireann is mostly Mod.Drizzle in the west, 2 reports of rain shower and 1 report of snow grains.

A bit frustrating to be sure how this front seems to be decaying quicker than expected. Thursday's front will no doubt have more pep to it, but of course that will probably be rain at lower levels. Still at least some people will see snow from the showers later on tonight.

Looks to be intensifying, surely precip will beef up once it gets further east?

  • Registered Users Posts: 146 ✭✭grenouille1966

Really cold now in Dublin 15... temperature barely above freezing....it will definitely snow but how much??? I expect a few centimetres of lying snow in Dublin/kildare.

  • Registered Users Posts: 932 ✭✭✭snowstorm445

Front isn't expected to arrive here for a few hours yet, not really expecting to get more than maybe a cm given how low lying I am (basically sea level). About as much as the last episode, although over a few hours rather than about half an hour.

Probably more a reflection on the crap coverage of the Shannon radar. Prep always looks to be getting more intense as it moves into the coverage of the Dublin radar. Anyway, slightly heavier rain here now (but still light by any standard), which, if falling as snow, would be noticeable. 2.0c.

    Light wet snow in Loughrea

This front is dying a death heading east. The colder air must be killing it or else it had very little in the first place. I think a drizzle is what we'll see here in north cork.

Knock again reporting light snow but with low vis at 6pm, Temp and Dewpoint close to equal at 0c. TAF amded to reflect the snow, forecast to continue until 9pm, with snow showers forecast from 3am again through to tomorrow.

Down to -1c at Dublin airport, dewpoint -5c. Snow likely guaranteed if anything makes it that far!

But the forecast was/is for snow to fall on the eastern half of the country. If the front was not even half way across when you posted, we wouldn't be expecting many, if any snow reports.

    Shnizzle and drizzle for most.

Won't be any scenes like those, except perhaps on very high ground.

Very very light wet snow here now. Front does seem to be dying out.

Mod sleet here now. About 50/50 rain/snow. Rate: 1.3mm/ph

I was more concerned about the lack of precipitation. If it's mostly drizzle in the west, then most likely it will be very light dandruff type snow by the time it gets here, unless it intensifys. It is definitely cold enough here for snow, but how much of it falls is more of an issue.
