The view from up there at night is well worth it though.
If the magic stuff starts falling soon I may head up myself with the drone.
Does she know you call her that?

Precip on the Netweather radar definitely getting beefier. There's a few spots of 3-4mm/hr in there which is a potential snow rate of several cm per hour if it was in any way sustained.

    -0.5ᴄ now in D14.

Was not expecting that, snowing here in Galway now, light but some big flakes mixed in with evidence of settling on the car.

Of course the precipitation is dying as the conditions are coming right

More than you expected at this early stage?

Sorta what I was expecting for here RedSteve. No more,no less. TBH, I would preferred if it stayed dry, as it was strange but nice to see for a change. Temp is 1.0c now with dew point 0c.

I doubt there will be much anywhere never mind south wexford!! Cold enough especially in the east but very little precipitation on the way.

The Met Éireann aviation chart for midnight shows a single cold front lying Cork to Coleraine, moving eastwards at 20 knots. The eastern half of the country has

    - generally 4-7 km visibility, light snow/sleet,
-with occasional 2 km visibility in light/moderate snow
    - with isolated 700-1200 m visibility in fog/light/moderate snow.

Just put a video on laoisweather Twitter there now as the snow has arrived, a lot heavier than the video shows, moderate falls of small flakes.

These types of snow mad threads are very informative and entertaining. Another late night on the screens beckons for me, and I love the updates, although the charts bewilder me!

I just wish that posters who do not have a location beside their name would fekkin TELL US where they are!!

Best of luck for snow all.

Pretty much in line with what the DWD is showing.

You do know you are free to open a thread yourself, right?

I don't see any hype in this thread at all.

I see consistent forecasts from several members.
