Just sleeting a bit in Dublin City Centre. As per usual, won’t amount to anything here.

this was definitely looking like a lame duck a few hours ago with just snow mist and the radar didn't help things. However the past hour has really seen this intensify and it's starting to approach a decent snow fall.

The big difference between this and the previous falls is temperature, there is no thawing and everything that's settled now, should still be there by the morning. Close to 3 cms on the ground now, possibly more - at least an inch in old money.

Hopefully thaw will be minimal tomorrow with snow sticking around in shaded areas. Looks like the final flakes of snow from this band are making it through here now at my location.

UKMO aviation charts for 00Z and 06Z, showing the area of showers (A1) moving in with occasional snow and thundershowers by morning.

+TSSN. Seeing that on a chart even if it is above 200m beats all other weather porn.

Have to say I think those models leaving central Dublin without snow accumulation were correct, plenty of snow but nothing settling. Hopefully other areas of the city are doing better.

Now coming thick and heavy in D18 just below 3 rock. Cars and grass getting covered finally and wind seems to have picked up a little. Love the silence with snow!!

    3-4cm in Naas now

Proper big white fluffy flakes now in Malahide. Starting to finally stick to cars and grass, pavement has a few bits but not long before it's white if this keeps up.

As the temp drops that little bit more starting to stick to more surfaces here in Waterford City. Roads still wet but grass and cars have a covering at least.

snow almost stopped here now, just the odd flake coming down. About 3-4 cms on the ground, ice also starting to form underneath the snow.

Dare I suggest that the last few radar updates show potential filling in of the precip on the second front. From Derry down?

The band of precipitation along the east coast has really filled in the last hour or so. Looks like some easterly push back even. Louth down to Wicklow should see some failing for quite a while yet.
Ah now ;) Some of that convergence that I was hoping for is happening, albeit right by the coast. There's nothing much at higher levels to slow the trailing edge of the front, so the band is tightening more than stalling. But I'll give you this, it's slowed down a bit in the last half hour!

I'd be especially happy if I wanted snow in Wicklow at the most recent weather reports. I still don't see more than 3cm at low level Dublin suburbs, but it's on the way nonetheless.
