Bulbs Keep Fusing

I can probably answer this myself (too high wattage and overheating)?, however. I have a 6 bulb light fitting in the kitchen and upstairs hall way. After putting in new bulbs to a max of 6, after a day or two, at least 2, if not 3 of 6 bulbs fuse. 6x 40 watt halogen bulbs in kitcnen and 6 x 40 watt bulbs in upstairs…
