Interesting that he has a background in player welfare.

How much real influence does the CEO have in that organisation? How much do his decisions influence the day-to-day reality of the athletes?

I would say a good CEO is critical for the well being of any organization. The reality of the job is a lot of the work done is behind the scenes, supporting and enabling those in more visible public roles who will get most of the credit if success is achieved. (There is of course one very well paid and high profile exception to that rule!!)

Seems like a decent appointment to me anyway, though a bit curious to know why there should be so much strife in Irish rowing at the moment.
