ESB do not have EO mini tethered smart.

To be honest dealing with the ESB is a nightmare. They do not know what they have themselves.

The deal seemed too good to be true - proved to be the case.

Anyone else match the ESB price - smart tethered.

would you not just take the untethered and leave a cable plugged in, whats the difference?

I found this out today as well, got a call from KN to say they’d be installing the non-smart tethered even though I’d ordered the smart tethered. They had no idea EI were selling a smart tethered version.

    The only seem to have:
    Non-Smart, tethered 899
    Smart, untethered 1099

As my car only came with a 20A cable, I’d need to buy a new 32A cable to use the untethered smart charge point, so looks like it'll be the non-smart tethered version for me.

You can use the 20a cable, it will just charge slower than 32, never actually heard of a 20a type 2 cable before, kinda no mans land

My stuff for sale on Adverts inc. EDDI, hot water cylinder, roof rails...

Yeah I know it will work, but it takes about twice as long to charge!
It’s the cable supplied by VW Ireland with an e-Golf, it says 20A on it but maybe it’s just 16A in reality.. 🀷*♀️

Got myself the EO mini a few weeks ago with GlenEV. Very impressed with the electrician (Frank) who came out.

Exposed part is so short it will make no odds. Unless that particular secrion of wall is a serious sun trap

I'd agree, but why not do it properly ?
Consider they claim to be EV specialists thats a fairly shabby job.
The isolator argument has been put to bed also so it should have one regardless of anyone's opinion .

Yeah I would have went back entry in to the isolator with the EO mounted to the left of it at the same height to center.

    Hi all,

Anyone recommend an SEAI registered electrician to fit a zappi in cork?

    Thanks

What does this mean if you don't mind me asking!

It means the cable will break down over time when exposed to UV light (aka the sun).
Think of an old garden hose thats been lying in the sun for years.
    might never be a problem

Car charger approval letter received, I only applied at the weekend so that's pretty sharp.

Must be something wrong there. The Zappi v2 itself is €900+ and no electrician is going to add materials and labour for <€100.

Did you get the quote from the same fella that fitted your (and soon my) solar?

He's doing my Zappi at the same time as the rest.

That's the one. He's in Limerick today putting in a system. They certainly clock up some mileage.
Don't know why I can't name them on here, other threads, jewellery for example, are happy to give recommendations. Anyway, recommendations by PM available for anyone interested.

I was chatting to him earlier, I have his heart broke with questions. And I just texted him a few more, lol.

Yeah not sure why the no recommendation rule. 3 different people on boards recommended them to me. And if all goes well I'll certainly be doing the same.

Jaysus, John is going into hospital next week for 5 days, so don't be too hard on him.

It's Ken I've dealt with for the most part.

I'd say he gets them cheaper when buying multiples and as he's based up North,it would be UK prices he's getting them at. Maybe it's just a special price for me as I've sent him a good bit of work;)

Can anyone please recommend / PM me the name of an installer for a home charger in the Limerick area - want to get a zappi installed
If I have to buy the zappi separately I will and again any suggestions on reputable suppliers welcome but would like to speak to someone first about installation costs etc
Should be easy enough install I hope but the only electrician I know does not do them.

In the not too distant future will look to add PV panels to the house and a lot of the feedback I have read to date say zappi is the way to go

It is, but do you have a car at home by day? The Solar PV bit isn’t worth much.

The better reason to buy Zappi is that it has inbuilt load limiting and load balancing.

One would assume that it’ll work out more expensive than the eo smart home from ei given the price of the zappi though ?

How much is the EO mini with the smart hub AND the OLM load management? I’d say there isn’t much between them on price.

There seems to be some confusion as to what’s actually included so it would be good to hear from a real user which is using the EO mini with solar integration AND load limiting AND load balancing and what they paid for it all. All Zappi’s have it by default.

And of course the EO is untethered so that’s a decision point for people. Looks neater but that might be inconvenient.

The EO start hub includes load balancing, so you don’t need the ALM. I wrote a detailed breakdown of all this a few pages back.

Yep it’s all in for the quoted price I posted pics of mine and the other poster did a great post detailing exactly what’s included

But if you want tethered that’s a consideration

How does it’s load management work. Is it a CT clamp on the mains feed?

Do you then tell it what size fuse you have in the house?
