    Hi guys,

I'm looking for 2 ceiling speakers that will connect to a record player via an amp.

However would it be possible to use a sonos connect  as the amp and also get the ceilings to tie in with a playbar and use the ceiling speakers for surround sound for tv.

For the ceiling speakers ideally I'd like them to look as simple as possible so as slim line as possible (white).

    Thanks

    Hi Lordgoat.

    Thanks for you post.

The Connect amp could be used to power two in-ceiling speakers with no issue at all.
Connect Amp is currently priced at £499

You would need to make sure your turntable has a built in phono stage or you would require a separate one to get the turntable working correctly and a listenable volume.

For the speakers you could look at the Monitor Audio Pro 65 priced at £69.00 each. The speaker is black but the grille that covers it is white.

These are very popular and produces a nice sound.

Let me know what you think.

    EDIT:
You can actually connect the Connect amp to use as rear speakers if you run a Sonos boost setup.

    Hi Lordgoat.

    Thanks for you post.

The only products than can pair with the Playbar for rears would be the Play 1, 3 and 5. Unfortunately the Connect amp can not be paired for 5.1 with the PlayBar.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry I was not clearer in the OP.

Is there any way I could connect the ceiling speakers to dual function with Record player and surround sound via a sonos connect or similar?

    Hi Lordgoat.

I think we are crossing wires here.

As mentioned above you can connect a turntable to the Connect amp with no problems providing the turntable has a phono stage built in or else you would be required to purchase an external one.
Something like the BT26 priced at £24.95
    http://www.richersounds.ie/p-909962-bt26-pre-amp.aspx

Which turntable do you currently own?

The connect amp could then be connected to the in-ceiling speakers (Priced above) via speaker cable which starts at £1.19 per meter:
    http://www.richersounds.ie/p-900187-symphony-100.aspx

After a bit more research it turn out that you can also connect the Connect amp to the Play bar and use the in-celing speakers as rears but for this to be possible you need to run the Sonos in Boost system setup.
The link above is a step by step set up for this as it involves changing IP address's etc....

The only thing is that you would need to un-pair the connect amp from the PlayBar every time you wanted to listen to it separately for either you turntable or streaming service.

    I hope this explains things.

Any questions please let me know.
