Its mild and very blustry in the dublin hills at the moment. Its hard to imagine anywhere will get snow when it like this!

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,589 ✭✭✭✭sryanbruen

Understand your point and in essence would agree.
BUT beggars can't be choosers and in our climate even falling snow is a rarity. To be honest even if we do get an easterly I think it's too late in the season for anything disruptive

I've shown you examples of where there have been very disruptive late falls of heavy snowfall including blizzards, what more could you want?

The too late in the season, sun is stronger etc excuses are just ridiculous.

The greatest blizzard to hit Ireland was on the 24th/25th February 1947 for Christ Sakes.

Check through your posts you'll find it. And places in the NW and North below 100m had lying snow for days. I should know I'm one of them. And it was more than 1cm of wet snow. It was so dry it lay for days :p Personally I'd say arrogant and can't admit when there wrong more so than petty.

Charming. Good luck with the snow so. Hope you have the shovel at hand...

Because you're not in Banbridge, you're in Reykjavik, well above 100 metres... And it's wet snow! :pac:

Nearby Glennane (160 metres) has gone from rain to snow now at 8 pm, temp 0.4, dp. 0.1, wbt 0.3. Strangely, Lough Fea (225 m) is reporting rain. Heavy snow at Aldergrove (1.3, 0.9, 1.2)

Temperatures retreating now from the west. 6.2c here in North Dublin - a drop of almost 3c in the last hour.

Showers should turn to snow before midnight across much of the northwest and Connaught then nationwide by around 3 am.

Edit - replaced "from 3 am with by 3 am"

Just started snowing here again, 1.3C, still have a few lying patches from last episode despite the terrible rain.

The 20:00 synop showed intermittent moderate snow (ww code 72 below). It did seem a bit strange with the wbt so high but it must have been a marginal call.

Met office rain warning mentioned 1 to 2cm possible to low levels as it cleared. 5cm above 250m. The intensity helped.

I think posting TAFs in future should have explanations in English for those who won't be able to read them. Make it easier for onlookers to understand.
