I think people are taking this TAF thing a bit too seriously now... :o:o:o

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,169 ✭✭✭✭JCX BXC

And pretending I didn't read anything about the TAF's above, the 11pm update has some interesting info attached.

Shannon has a prob 30 chance of showers of Snow with Hail (not Graupel!) from 7am-12pm, and Knock has showers of snow Graupel from 2am right through to midnight tomorrow.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,219 ✭✭✭Gaoth Laidir

The 2300Z TAFs for Sligo, Casement, Dublin Airport and Cork Airport give slight chance of sleet showers, no snow.

Shannon slight chance of sleet or graupel/hail showers from 7 am to midday.

Knock snow/graupel showers from 2 am.

All above forecasts generated by human experts in Shannon, using more tools and knowledge than any of us here on boards.

[Mod Snip]. I have no problem with TAFs used sparingly and explained. This is not happening.

I, and others here, want to make sure information is easily given and accessible to other posters and onlookers. Otherwise what is the point?

    Anyway back OT.

The sub -6 850 hpa isotherm (the colder airmass) is in over the western coastal counties now so the transition to sleet and then to snow should be fast there between now and just after midnight.

Between then and around 3 am for that potential to spread across the rest of the country. Depends on whether you have precipitation of course.

    2.9c in Sligo now.

Was 3.5c for 2 hours. Thought my weather station was broke.

    Raining

Just looked at Satellite and the real cold stuff still off to NW. Will be 1.5c in an hour and sleeting id reckon with a repeat of Thursday night in rural Sligo.

Just looking across the models and another slight upgrade for snow potential Monday night. It currently looks a rain to snow event. Could be some disruption Tuesday morning.

Funny when it comes to climate change you refuse to believe the experts. A selective grunt.
