Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Larmour failed to prevent that Italian try. Not a good start for him today.

When people ask for 10 changes for the Italy game next year, can we show them the last 30 minutes here

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,119 ✭✭✭Jack Kanoff

    We're losing the second half?

The Irish Achilles heel remains defence against width. Italy with a chance to pick up a 4TBP.

Larmour is overhyped, hopefully people and the media will shut up about him and let him get on with developing his game

    Murray is MOTM.

I'm glad we're seeing some weaknesses here, it makes for a much more useful examination than a complete destruction would have. I think a lot of it is just complacency due to the dominance, but still.

    Larmours inexperience really showing.

Unfortunately I don’t think this will do much for his confidence.

Won’t get a chance to redeem himself in a green shirt before November.

Ffs Carberry nearly kills the -33 handicap accumulator bets with that turnover.

Great by Larmour and great chase back by Earls

We went to pot when the halves went off, but we've been hard done by in the second half with Poite. Italians should have been down to 14 for 10 minutes for repeated penalties. Score flatters Italy, but lots to work on from a defensive standpoint...Soft points coughed up.

Ah, earls could have let them have the bonus :)

    Best post today. MOTM.

That was silly from Carbery. Great tackle from Earls to prevent BP for Italy.

Larmour failed to prevent that Italian try. Not a good start for him today.

.... Larmour was in the 13 channel, Kearney was outside.
Kearney bit in due to the quality of the pass so larmour had to cover beyond his own man

    Not larmours fault at all

    Edit: needless comment. Apologies dublinman

Very mixed 30 minutes from Carbery.

Get Larmour into FB for the rest of the tournament and get Kearney out of there. Simply magic

Holy **** what a step from Larmour

He'd want to step up his defence.

    See what I did there.

Porter MoM for me. Aki was the other contender.

Not sure about that MOTM selection

In all fairness Porter had a great game alright. Presume he's the front runner for starting in 2 weeks time?

I’m happy that Larmour had that nice piece of play- it would have been terrible for his confidence if all he had to show for his appearance was a few mistakes, we’ll need him in the future

That second half was a mess

Lamours one break and Carberys kicks aside, the subs had zero impact on the game and were arguably worse than the players they replaced.

Great win, but 2 of those 3 Italian trys were absolute gifts.

That 30 mins is a good example of why Larmour is nowhere near ready to replace Kearney. One break in the 78th minute against a tired Italian defence does not gloss over two bad try costing mistakes. Guy has a great present and future, but he is not an international starter yet.

    Simply magic?

His positioning in defence wasn't great and there's bigger challenges ahead.

    Kearney's going nowhere.

Larmour has a bit to go before he takes it off Kearney

Honestly the best of them was probably Quinn Roux, and that's not good.

If Earls played like this last year not only would he have been on the Lions tour he would have been starting.

My MOTM was Porter. Had to play nearly 80 minutes and was still working hard late on. When you think of Hayes and Ross and then you have a young prospect holding up the scrum but still making good carries after 70 minutes of work I think it's worth acknowledging that.

The story of the day is the injuries, we've been rocked to be honest and if Conan, Henderson, Furlong, Henshaw are in trouble then so are Ireland. Leinster fans watching that game through their fingers in the end to be honest. Hope they are all on the minor end of severity.

    Onwards and upwards.

This is weird. For all our dominance and the scoreline... I'm really irritated by that last 25 minutes or so. Left points out there. Let Italy score cheaply. If we lose something on points difference I'll be livid.

Unreasonable I know I'm being but...
